It may not have made the top headlines amid the dozens of announcements HP made during CES, but if you're looking at picking up a TouchSmart PC in the near future, this may be the most important announcement at the show.

HP has announced that starting now, along with the latest version of the TouchSmart Software, HP TouchSmart PCs are now available configure to order from the HP store, allowing you to customize a TouchSmart to fit your exact needs with a wide variety of options, including: Blu-Ray drives, processor speed, video card, and hard drive size.

Until now, all TouchSmart PC products have been offered as pre-configured SKUs in a few different models, which also meant that certain options, like a Blu-Ray drive in the 22" model, were not possible. The familiar pre-configured models will continue to be sold at retail locations and online for those who do not wish to customize, but some retailers may choose to allow systems to configured and shipped directly to consumers.

Aside from a multitude of productivity software, security software, and accessories to choose from, the hardware customization options right now include:
