How To Wall Mount the HP TouchSmart PC

Looking to get that HP TouchSmart PC up on a wall, but have no clue how to make it happen? A member by the name of 'bchinnoc' over at the Hardware Geeks forum put up an interesting post detailing just that; how to wall mount your HP TouchSmart PC.

By the sound of it, it's a pretty complicated prodcedure involving a fair amount of drilling, bending, coercing, cursing, and praying to make it happen. There's no ritual dance, but it probably wouldn't hurt.

If you're up for a little bit of a challenge, head on over and read the instructions. As a helpful tip, another member bulleted the steps them further down the page to make it easier to follow.

Warning: Hardware Geeks registration required to see photos, but anyone can view the instructions.

Will adding a wall mount void my warranty?

According to hp, the warranty only covers the hardware. It depends on what you do to the hardware (chassis) to make it wall mountable. In general:

  • If you're drilling holes, that would void the warranty, as this is changing the system significantly.
  • If you're just removing the stand and adding some sort of adapter, that is okay, but if the unit falls off and breaks, that is not covered by warranty.
  • If you break it in the process of “installing” or “mounting”  the unit using any DIY method, that would void the warranty.
To summarize, like most DIY modifications, if you radically alter the hardware and/or chassis or break/drop the unit in the process, you're on your own.
