Hey,

The app. is great. I am hoping to use it in a classroom. Day 1 was okay. Yesterday I opened the program and some innappropriate content was up on the menu pics.

Is there any way to control content?

Thanks

Hello,

We'll work on it and thanks for the feedback! The recent items come from YouTube and sometimes miss their filtering.

Thanks,
Sonya

update - NEED HELP!!!! Every time I restart the HP touch software shell, the Internet TV app loads some random (usually horrificly terrible) youtube video and starts blaring it!!!!! Is there a way to change the settings on this app to not auto-play a random video on launch??? Otherwise, it is not usable at all. I'm assuming the developer tested this app on ther own touchsmart before release?

Please tell me how to fix settings- I love your app but if I can't get this resolved I have to remove it.

don't bother- it is very buggy and the developer has no interest in fixing it, improving it or responding to support requests. too bad- really nice start on a handy app but poor follow through.

Hello Simon,

We apologize for the delay.

This free application is designed and tested for vista only.

No, it's not. I first tried it on Vista with an earlier TouchSmart. Same bugs. I thought it might work better on Win7 when I bought my new TouchSmart. I politely emailed you a list of bugs / usability issues as well as several fairly easy improvements but you never responded.  I also posted for help earlier in this thread. Still no response...

Question- Why even bother releasing this app if you are not going to support it properly, especially with updating it for Window 7?    The TouchSmart really needs a solid Youtube application, and we all know that HP is not going to make anything new or open any sort of "app store".

Hi Kurt,

The application may install on W7 and work ok, but this operating system was not qualified or tested. There are some features that may work while others will not.

We do appreciate your feedback of bugs found. If this application is picked up, we will need to pick up W7 support. For now, this version is for those with Vista and the TouchSmart hardware.

Forgive my harshness Sonya, but in the time you've spent reading posts / resonding with no solution you could have fixed a few things in your application. Fundamentally there are not much differences between Vista and 7 from an application perspective. This may be different for the newer touchsmart v3 UI for 7, but if it runs on 7 (and it does- i've installed it), it should work the same as it does for Vista.

Most of your "bugs" that I've found are due to not QA checking the software for proper functionality / usability / needed features- they are not due to OS compatability.   I'd say your app is a good first attempt and an excellent / needed idea, but in it's current "rough draft" form I doubt it will get picked up. You need to make a good, polished application and go from there.   Me? Yes, I develop commercial software.

would the touch smart software run on the acer machine alongside the touch software that comes with the machine i think i prefer the touch smart thanks ?

Thank you for your feedback Kurt; we will take this into consideration when providing our next free download.

Simon, the TouchSmart software is provided by HP and comes pre-installed on the system. I don't think this is something you can install on other systems. But if you create a save point it might be worth a try. We will run a search on the internet and if we find anything we will be sure to post it here.

HI Just tried it on Touchsmart 4.0 (-:
Every thing works except the Search funct.

UPDATE:Sorry only the preview works!
Cant actually play any of the Tube videos...

I can write one letter and then it change focus away from the tab where you are writing... Any way you could make a fix for this?

Or is future development of this tool dead? )-;

Casperse- You'll pretty much have to deal with it as is, the Touchsmart overall is a 'novelty' item and you will not see any future development or improvements on anything. There is zero incentive for Sonya to spend time improving the internet TV app, which is a shame, but it is what it is..

To bad I think with all the new product being rolled out like the iPad and all the other Touch products this will be very much alive again...

November 29, 2010 3:07 AM

yep- I think this product could do well, problem is HP has no real clear direction and has failed to create a strong "community" around the product and development of new apps. I would love to be shown wrong about this, but from what I've seen so far it's a classic case of product "pump and dump". Either way, mine does a great job of serving up media in the kitchen as a wall mounted touch panel. If HP ever does get smart and continue development efforts and UI improvements for the TS line, that will be a pleasant surprise.
