Hello

I've got a big Problem :-( I've installed Windows 7 (32bit) on my IQ515. Didnt made a Recovery CD or anything else because I saw the volume "Factory_Image". Now i cant install WLAN Drivers and the Microphone will not be running... Now what can I do?

 - How can I go back to Vista?

- Can I use WLAN and Microphone with Windows 7

- Should I download Windows 7 64bit and try this?

I've got no idea... Thanks for any help

For those who have not made the recovery disks, they can be purchased from HP.

I recommend to ALLWAYS make a set of recovery disks as soon as you first get your new computer up and running.

That said, Win7 64 bit should run fine on it. There has been lots of discussion in the touchsmart community "groups/windows7" about how to set up your system to run win7. I encourage you to look there becasue there are special steps to follow to get the drivers to work. Nothing difficult but you have to follow the steps.

All of the drivers install from Windows Vista or Windows 7 OR are available from the HP support site, have you gone to HP to download them?

Drivers being "out of date" isn't as a huge an issue as implied, there are plenty of drivers that ship with your OS that will never ever get updated and would have dates going back to 2006

The other question is what are you using to scan them? this is not something HP or Windows does and sounds a lot like a piece of Spyware/Malware that you might have downloaded by accident.

Regarding Drivers "being out of date".

I really dislike the programs that tell you that you have drivers that are out of date then tell you that you have to purchase the program in order to update your drivers. IMHO, thats just as bad as spyware or a virus and I try to avoid those programs like the plague.

As an experiment I took a freshly wiped system and installed the operating system from the recovery disks. I then ran windows update and HP update and updated all of my files and drivers.
Then I installed one of those "driver update programs" which told me that all of my drivers were out of date and my computer was loaded with spyware. Which of course was not correct.

That said, the best resource for updating your drivers is like Diane said, the HP support website. You will find the most updated drivers for your machine there.
