Hi.

I have now been using my TS IQ512 for almost two weeks - and I hate to say it but I'm not impressed.

Since I been working with HP/Compaq since 1994, I was under the impression that they always have been knowing there stuff. I can't even count the laptops I've used during these years (I swap at my company every 6 month).

The IQ512 is an HP product all the way.. exept the little program called..  you guessed wright - TouchSmart. It's slow, no way to configure, lacks of function, misses functions, crashes and so on. Even my iTouch is more intellegent than the TS.. and then you know something is wrong:-)

HP..plz.. get som good people to review / uppdate it and relase a new version!!!

Hi Per,

It sounds like you have a lot of great ideas for improvements. Could I ask you to get a little more in-depth with your criticisms, please? What exactly would you like to be able to configure, what functions are lacking, what functions are missing and most importantly, what kinds of crashes have you experienced? We're making updates to the software available as we work on it, and your input will be very valuable in making the product better. Of course, I can't promise that we can implement all your suggestions, but I'd really like to get details from you.

Did you know that there are some guidelines available for software developers to create their own software that will work within the TouchSmart software? It's available right here at touchsmartcommunity.com (http://www.touchsmartcommunity.com/download/60/HP-TouchSmart-Software-Develop...

Can't agree more ! Obviously much more budget dedicated to marketing than to produce a finished software !

Have you tried to browse a collection of several hundreds of CDs ? Please add an acceleration feature such as on the ipod wheel. Please add a search funtion with text entry.
Why are itunes albums displaying and playing in alphabetical order rather than the order of tracks in the original CD (even when properly tagged)?

Please add build in applet for web radios.

All we need is a usable interface to use the easyness of the touchscreen, with large touch spots. But to the very minimum, it should be usable when you have over a few tens of pictures or music.

We have bought this expensive pieace of hardware based on marketing promises made around the software pieace. Please let us not go away...Apple is still miles ahead...

Well I can just start with my earlier thread about "the making of a playlist - that is not playable..".

Another annoying feature, which I don't know if it supposed to work like it does, is when you tap on the "movie window". If it just showed all my movies under user/movie.. but it doesn't. It shows every avi, mov, mpg that it can find under the users documents. Lets say you are downloading a movie.. right away you get an icon for the movie (thou it's NOT in the movie folder). Tap on it an the hole Touchsmart software freaks out and finally you have to restart. Same same with the picture files in music folder thats shows up under pictures.. annoying.

Whats up with the clock/watch? I think Bill hade at least two different layouts of it in Windows 3.1 - and that was in the early 90s..

Then I am major dissapointed with another thing. The links on the firs pge of TS, there are some games and so on. When taped on you get right back to Vista and the standard program which requires a mouse.. it should of course be a version for the TS / touchscreen.. not just som cheap link to an exe file.

I'm stopping now.. not that I don't have more input - but I think u guys are about to fall a sleep now :-)

Thanks Per, that's good feedback. I'll make sure the people who are responsible for the Music, Video and Clock applications are made aware of it.

As far as the links to Vista exe's, that was put in there on purpose so that the wraparound scrolling feature of the bottom row would work out-of-the-box. You can turn those off any time you want, using the Personalize button (next to the close button at the bottom right).

Michel,

I'm not sure about the "obviously" part of your statement. I don't know how much was spent on software vs. marketing, but I do know that the software was not cheap. And it's still being worked on and improved. Your feedback helps pick the areas to give more attention to.

Search is on our list of improvements, but I don't know when exactly it will be implemented.
