Some of it is available at the HP Support website here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2100&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&la...

Due to non-technical issues, some of the programs you may be looking for (in particular Music / Photo / Video) are not posted as updates as of this post. However, all of the "Spring" software is available on some models that are in stores now. I don't have specific details on the model numbers, but if version 2.5 of the HP TouchSmart software is installed from the factory, the "Spring" version of Music / Photo and Video should also be on there.

so HP is not releasing the full updates to existing owners? why was it done this way?

June 2, 2009 8:48 PM

The only thing I can say is that it isn't intentional. It just has turned out that way because of the non-technical issues that I can't be more specific about.

"non-technical issues"??
"can't be more specific"??
there is a lot of people waiting for this update and theses types of statements really don't cut it, come on GTG, we bought the product, we have waited, we have put up with the shortfalls in the software, now we want action,
i did not take mine back to the store for a refund on the day i found the faults because i belived in you, dont let me down now.

Well, madpup, sorry. I have to follow the rules of my employer, and I'm already close to crossing the line with what I've said above.

I totally get that a lot of people are waiting impatiently for updates and that you've got high expectations. I have those expectations myself, and have been frustrated many times over by the things I have to stay quiet about if I want to stay employed. Realize that I'm just a guy on the bottom floor of a large corporation trying to do the "right thing". Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Would you risk crossing the line yourself?

so there will be no Spring update for existing owners?

thanks for your patience here.....

Weren't there some updates that came out feb, march and april this year? Were those part of the spring update?

Woohoo! I won my Touchsmart!

June 12, 2009 6:04 PM

Like I posted on June 1, SOME of the updates are available (that were in the "Spring update"), but not all. In particular Music/Photo/Video is not available. And sadly, this is the one most people are waiting for, I know.

krblgc: Sorry, I can't make any statements about what may or may not be published in the future.

I for one am happy to get hints like "non-technical issues." It's far more annoying when a company stonewalls for no apparent reason, than when a euphemism is used. With the euphemism, we at least have some idea of what's going on, and aren't left totally in the dark.

Keep on going, and thanks.

Hey GTG,
It must be frustrating to be expected to be the voice of HP here, while your hands are cuffed, and your mouth is gagged, and your @$$ is on the razor wire. It's hard to just maintain your own personal balance on the wire, while everyone is trying to see if they can push you over.
Sounds like my old position where I used to work, for the DoD of the US Govt. after 25 years, I don't work there anymore.
When your boss leaves your butt bared for all to flog, it's hard to maintain a sense of loyalty, isn't it? Especially when your boss hands out the whuppin' sticks to all the people who want someone to blame.

To Everyone Else,
Every company out there wants to sell their latest production, and the perks go to the new customers, it's just how big enterprise operates. Does @T&T offer big savings and discounts to existing customers? NO! They want new customers, and you have to woo them to sign up with big intro savings and free perks. There's no such thing as a loyal customer, they are just fools as far as any large enterprise business is concerned. You only offer customers perks when they threaten to sue or disconnect their service, and all large businesses know that they are going to lose customers who fall through the cracks. There are only 2800 members here, and if that's just 5% of the total HP TS ownership, then we are talking about a tiny group of customers in the eyes of HP, and repeat customers they'd love to get, but the unhappy ones? They don't mind losing them one bit. Unhappy customers cut margins with returns, warranty work, and customer service issues, so if a company wants to cut their losses, they are dollars ahead to refund them and send them on their way. Sorry to say it, but you shouldn't hold your breath waiting for your "entitlement" to the HP Spring Update, because if HP is already shipping it with the new TS models, then you are S.O.L., and THAT is your explanation of a "Non-Technical Issue"... I can guess all I want; it's a free country, but that makes "big business sense" to me.

Actually, that's not the explanation for the "non-technical issue". I'm hoping that at some point I'll be able to explain it fully, but we'll just have to see. I may never be able to.

As far as being expected to be the voice of HP and being cuffed, etc. I can deal with that. Those are just the facts of life.

Hey, you gotta feed the family...
