Greetings again.

I am getting ready to sell my tx2 just because I don't use the features on here much (still miss using my Wacom tablet when I do need a stylus)... but also want something with an HDMI out so I am moving on.

That said... I tried getting back to Vista... uninstalled the N-trig software and then popped my Vista recovery media in. When I got back into Vista... everything (seemingly) worked fine, except every time I rebooted I'd get a bubble notification saying "screen needs to be recalibrated" or something like that. The screen worked, but the notification was driving me NUTS.

I'm assuming that it was because even after uninstalling the software in Win 7,  the firmware still remained at the "new" version. Now I'm back on Win 7, till I can restore everything on the laptop to "factory state" so I can sell it without anyone complaining.

My question is, how do I go about reverting the firmware to the old version???

just install the lastest w7 ntrig software and then uninstall.

The ununstall reverts the firmware to to earler version.

You can then go back to vista no probelms. (NB I have taken off latest ntrig drivers on windows 7 and reverted to vista drivers as they seem more reliable, not resets required to keep it functioning)

Thanks for the information, Maxwell. I was just hesitant because the last time I did it was:

1) Go into Uninstall Programs and remove N-Trig software
2) Put restore CD/DVD in and wipe system back to Vista

When I got back to Vista, I still had the new firmware... which caused all kinds of problems.

I'm just hesitant to spend hours going through the process again just to find out it didn't work again...

its in another thread here:

Install the Dell n-trig drivers, which will fail but revert you firmware, then restart and install the hp drivers and you back to normal.

you'll probably notice with the new firmware you also dont get MS Ink stuff to work.

Thanks guys for the help!

Sure enough... as much as the first reply never worked for me... somehow it did work this time around. The catch was... I had to uninstall the "new" software, install the "old"... reboot... uninstall the old, reinstall the old... and reboot again. This time around, it showed the 3.5.x.x firmware! I was so sick of going between the two OSes before that I gutted my 250gb storage drive just so I can swap it in/out of my laptop because otherwise I was running OS installs of Vista or Win 7 all day long!

So now as of Friday I will be the owner of a decked-out Studio XPS 13. Any idea how to sell my tx2 cheap?

I'll take it for free if you're really desperate to get rid of it :)

Cheap? OK, I'll give you 100.00 for it. Paypal

Geez I knew those replies were gonna be coming... haha.

I bought the laptop off Amazon in February, then paid tax/shipping which came around $1000 if not a little more. Then called HP and extended the warranty to the 3 year with accidental damage... another about $350.

So if I were to ditch this laptop for "cheap", it would be for around 800...

They are showing up as refurbs for around 549 and HP runs "coupons" which bring the price of new ones down to 699 or 649 with a student discounts.

It stinks that we pay so much money for things and just a couple months later they are less than half the price.

David,
Thanks for the information.I saw those ads/coupons somewhere but never stumbled upon them since that first time. And I'll admit I had a few drinks in me by the time I stumbled upon them.

Either way... for a laptop that has been barely used, and holds the warranty/accidental damage, still is worth more than 650 lol

Definitely. Hope you find a customer.
