hi, i want to enable the multitouch function in my HP pavilion TX2000 machine running in Vista. Its said Windows 7 has the multitouch functionality but not in Windows Vista.

If the present Hardware supports Multitouch in Windows 7 and is there any way to tap/hook the functionality directly from hardware bypassing the OS ???

I tried using the NextWindow drivers. It says no touch device connected. Hence i can't able to find a way to proceed with this. Anyone knows the solution / suggenstion please help me out.

Kannan

Hi,

Touchsmart Tx2000, tx2500, doesn´t support multitouch.
That feature, appart for being software dependent, needs a multitouch hardware, and the only hp computers with that, are the touchsmarts.

Zh

Correct. I have a TX2500z and it (as well as the entite TX1000/2000 line) DOES NOT support multitouch. Unfortunately, the TX2000 series is often confused with the TX2 series. They both look similar and have very similar specs byt each has totally different digitizers.

No, I´m sure that model doesn´t support multitouch, sice it´s not from the touchsmart tx2 line; but one way to check, it´s the screen surface, if it is plastic, its just single touch, glass is multitouch.

I looked on HP's website and the TX2609 reference I found is for the TX2609au which indicates that it was marketed to Australia. It has a Wacom digitizer and is NOT Multitouch. It is similar to my TX2500 which has a digitizer and (in your case - possibly) a single touch finger input panel as well. Since it has the Wacom digitizer, it is SINGLE TOUCH.

Sorry for the bad news,

David

prswine said: the tx2000 line does have multitouch just does not have drivers for they are to be released sometime in october. if u can find the manufacturer u might be able to get it sooner thats what i am searching for and how i stumbled into this forum

Nope...Sorry.  The TX2000 series with the Wacom digitizer (I have a TX2500) IS NOT multitouch.  It does support both pen and finger input but not multiple finger input.  If you would like to prove me wrong please provide a link to what you are talking about.

The "TX2", however is multitouch.  It looks vry similar to the 2000 series and is often confused with it, but has a totally different touchscreen (n-trig)

Well, I would love to see that, but since with resistive screens is not possible to have multitouch, that would not happend, besides HP wont release any drivers to enable multitouch in the tx2000/2500 series, if they already have multitouch on the tx2 series.

Best regards,

Zh

prswine,
Wacom or HP's website. I've looked at both and find no mention of multitouch being available for the TX2000 series tablet. Care to share a link?

Once, and for all; the tx2000/tx2500 ISN'T capable of multitouch, there are no drivers, there won't be, maybe perhaps it's capable of some sort of multitouch, holding one finger and moving the other...but thats another story, there wont be any such drivers, so the only way to have multitouh in this, is changing the whole screen (arround $650) for the ones in the tx2z series, so is better to get another computer of that series.

Regards.

Agreed.  It is totally different technlogy.  The link that was provided was also for a linux distro and not windows.  There is no way to make a single touch device multitouch.

hi there,

I purchased my HP Pavilion tx 2550ee last august. I am using VISTA SP 1. Eversince I purchased this laptop, I have been experiencing this unexpected shutdown problem. The system runs fine when it is set for continuous downloading, but the moment I prompt it for shutdown, the OS successfully logs off or sometimes BSOD appears. When logs off, the power doesn't go off completely. I have to slide the power button for 2 sec for manual switch off. Incase of restart I get BSOD. I am feeling frustrated that why is this happening with a brand new system. It has got a warranty and the first time when I purchased this system I was facing worst problems so my system got replaced but I had to wait for 2 weeks. The 2nd time i faced a HDD problem which took another 3 weeks, but thankfully it got replaced as well. But I am still facing the BSOD problem.

One of the forums suggested to uninstall an update KB937874 but this did not help as well

Need your expertise and help in this regard. THANK YOU!!

Hi,

I give you the formal welcome, to the pain that is to have one of these things..... XD. About your problem, have installed any kind of software that might use a virtual driver (daemon tools, virtual cdrom, etc)? have you recently updated any driver? Have you checked the hp website, for the newest drivers? and finally, have you checked the system's log? maybe there's the answer to this.

Rgards,
Mauricio

Greetings there, thanks for the welcome. As far as the virtual drive is concerned, I was planning to install deamon tools but I haven't yet. Can you suggest someother tools for that? And about the drivers, I dont think I have updated any. Although my updates for vista is active, what do you suggest on that. And the system log, how can this help me?

Regards
Ahmed

Hi again,

for the virtual drive I suggest you MagicISO Virtual Drive --> http://www.magiciso.com/tutorials/miso-magicdisc-overview.htm

For system log---> In search, on the taskbar, type "eventvwr" (without quotes)

You can find many useful information in here, check for the windows log, and startups errors.

If your vista update is activated, probably your drivers are up to date.

If I were you, I would do a full system recovery, with the recovery discs set, or the recovery partition (if you haven´t deleted it); and if that didn't help,
I would push hp to get me another model (better of course), as I did once :).

Have a nice weekend,

Mauricio.

I dont know if its the right thing to change the system now. I searched several forums and it looks like that BSOD is one comon disease out there which evreyone is facing. Does improper shutdown cause any damage to hardware?
