After registering and completing the process I could not login because it didn't accept my p/w

OK, reset the p/w and when I got a new one via email, followed the link to my profile so I could change the p/w and went through this process a couple of times (ie reset p// again) but when entering the suppied p/w in current p/w field on trying to save my user generated p/w I get this error message "Password does not match your current one"

 I am accessing the Forum via the email link, which lets me in OK

What am I missing in the process?

Any suugestions?

No the p/w issue has not been resolved, I'm gaining access via the links in the email messages
