Greetings all,

Thought I'd share this as someone else may be having similar issues with their integrated Soundmax card.

I rip a lot of vinyl to mp3 using Adobe Audition but have been experiencing issues with the occasional gap appearing in my recordings - very small, maybe just 0.2 of a second. This has only started to happen since I've been using my shiny new Touchsmart :(

So, it would happen more often than not at the start of a recording - most likely within the first 30 seconds, but it has also occurred after several minutes. As I'd set the wave cache to it's maximum and was using my fastest drive for my temporary folders it was hard to see why this was happening. My guess would be that either the standard windows drivers are not up to the job or another application was attempting to use the card whilst Audition was recording despite having the 'allow applications exclusive control' option set. So, unable to find any new Windows drivers I thought I'd have a look for an ASIO driver (Audition is optimised for and recommends these). I downloaded and installed  http://www.asio4all.com/ and it appears to have totally solved the problem. I've left the ASIO buffer size at 512 samples and all the other settings as they were. Easy as that - seemingly!

If anyone else is having similar recording issues using the line-in, then this could also be your solution too.
