Boxee opened up the public alpha today and it looks like a wonderful addition to the touchsmart for watching internet tv on our big screens.

I've had it running for a while on my laptop and the features including the touchscreen are pretty cool.  Since its an alpha, as expected, there are a few bugs such as the pause button not working.

I've been away from my TS all day so as soon as I can, I'm going to install and run it to see how things go.

Things are working good on my laptop though even with  a marginal internet connection, NCIS is palying in high def with nary a hiccup.

Check it out at www.boxee.tv

Update:

Yep. its an alpha...
Touch input does not work on my TS...at least it doesn't in Win7. Going to install it later on my Vista partition and see if it works any better.

Still some hiccups with their network. I wanted to watch Law and Order SVU and when I click on play, nothing happened.

Well, its their first day. I'll give it some more time. Now..back to NCIS on my TabletPC.

Hmmm. Touch features don't work on the Touchsmart. It even has an onscreen keyboard. Feature coming soon maybe?
It works better with Vista than it does in Win7 as I was able to access some content in Vista nad not 7. Looks like there is still some work to be done.
Viseo palyback on a wired connection is great though.

Freezups, hangs and blips in Windows 7, Runs well in Vista but touch works in neither. Have to use the mouse or media center remote control.

Overall, video quality is good and I read somewhere that it is optomized for Nvidia display cards. A plus for TS desktop users.

Gonna play with it some more.
