I just got the tx1025dx notebook for my job in hopes that I would be able to use it for taking applications. To do this, I need to manipulate pdf files so that I can write on them--I think that is what I need anyways...? So my question really is what do I need to get in order to take existing files/documents and turn them into tablet compatible forms (like microsoft's onenote for example)?

If you want to annotate pdf files the pdf annotator is probably what you are looking for. You can fand infos and a 30 day trial on http://ograhl.com/en/pdfannotator/

There is also some freeware to annotate pdf files but from my experience these can't compete with the pdf annotator.

PDF Annotator - as mentioned above - is a great and relatively inexpensive program perfect for tablets amd marking up PDF documents. If you need more than just markup capability, the more expensive bluebeam PDF Revue has quite a bit more functionality at a much higher price.
