Does anyone know if you can use a splitter on the cable connection coming into the cable modem?  I would like to be able to split that signal and use it for the TV tuner connection.

That's what my connection is like. I had Comcast put it in, though.

MOst splitters that split internet and tv have at least one port on them with an attenuator for the broadband connection. If it is already split outside yor residence with an attenuator), then splitting it again may cause some problems. Look at the splitter and it will/should indicate which is for tv and which is for internet.
