Many websites flicker A LOT - I went to manage-addons and disabled any that were installed (only shockwave).

 Still occurs.

 Anyone else experiencing this?

Oh, it is build 7264, 64-bit.

I am running build 7264 64 bit as well. I have not noticed any flicker.

First point (I have to get up on my soapbox for this)
Unless you are a developer, you shouldn;t be running a legitimate copy of anything above 7100 release candidate, so if you downloaded it from a torrent site, then you get whatever baggage may be included with it. Baggage you may not necessarily want or know about.

As for the flickering in IE, I've done extensive reading about Win7 on many websites, particularly neowin.net and winsupersite and have not seen any posts about flickering.

Have you tried firefox or chrome?

Back to the baggage. If you downloaded from a torrent, its possible that something is using your internet connection/browser to do bad things. You can try an antivirus scan to see if it picks up anything.
If you are using Win7 64 bit, are you having the problems in both the 64 bit IE as well as the 32 bit?

Try Google Chrome and see if you still have the problem.

Hi David, thanks for the "help?".

I'm actually an IT professional working with Windows 7 and our software development team to be ready for release - so thanks for the heads up, but I'm aware of the issues.  7264 is the current build, and likely very similar to RTM.

All that said, on our touchsmart fleet we do NOT experience the issues with ANY windows 7 build that is 32-bit.  However, it is consistent with our Touchsmart fleets on 7100+ (every build any of our devs have run) with a 64-bit install (even when using the 32-bit IE).

The flicker is NOT present in Chrome or FF - no one to my knowledge has tested Safari.

Again, we have this issue on 7 different touchsmart laptops (all TX2 - various models within that line) and on all Windows 7 builds we've tested past 7100 (RC).

As a dev then, you can appreciate my soapbox stance about unofficial releases of software being "public" and the problems they can cause, so my appologies for assuming you got it from a torrent site.

Since there is no flicker in chrome or firefox, then it has to be an issue with IE. Possibly JAVA related?

Does it do it in both versions of the browser (64 and 32bit?) EDIT: just read agian. You have tested both versions.

Is it flicker like you get when a screen refresh is too low or flicker more like a page bucking when it tries to load. If that is the case, try clicking the compatability mode button next to the address bar and see if that helps.

I don't think IE8 is still ready for prime time as I'm still having issues with it crashing on a regualr basis such as when I exit this website. Can duplicate it every time in Win7 but not Vista with IE8. Funny...

I also am experiencing this flicker. For example each time i press a key as ai am typing this the entire page flickers. The borders do not. I am running rtm 64bit (Yes i also am a developer, and have received this build direct from Microsoft). Also as i move the mouse from one post to another, the page again flickers. Has anyone found a fix or resolution for this?

Yeah, I got the flicker issue too on flash sites. What I did, was NOT install the graphics card driver that windows recommneded. Installed it from ATI site.

I am not a developer. I am running Windows 7 64 bit and have a very annoying flicker problem, principally with Word 2003 pages that contain images. There seem to be many others in internet forums experiencing similar problems with Windows 7 64 bit version.

I also am seeing this issue. Interestingly enough the IE-64 bit is working without the flicker. 32 bit is flickering whenever I mouse around the page. I am looking into it more and will post if I figure it out.

I highly doubt it is graphics related if the other browsers are functioning normally. More to follow.

Culprit on my system was the Shockwave Flash Object plugin. I disabled it and relaunched Internet explorer - it all works.

Working on a permanent fix.
