Hi Everyone,

I am considering buying an IQ 8?? but need some additonal information and hope that one of you guy's may be able to help.

I do DJ and karaoke work and use multiple screens to display visualisations and the words for the karaoke.

I checked the spec of the IQ8?? on the HP site and noticed that they have additional PCI and PCI Express ports, different models have different variations, are these usable for additional graphics cards or is there any other way of attaching external monitors and any comments on which model would be most applicable for my use.

Many thanks for any replies.

Mysteron.

I have an IQ816. It has NO slots. The only way I can think of to add a monitor would be with a USB-connected video adapter, which have recently appeared on the market. I believe EVGA has one. Haven't tried one, and I don't know if they support 64-bit Windows.

Hi BobRas,
thanks for the reply, I know ther are no visible external ports but apparantly there are ports on the planar / motherboard, mmm, usb video, i'll check it out !!!

You won't be able to use those ports for what you intend. Your best bet is an external USB solution.

Hi GeekTieGuy,
Been looking at the USB solutions, look ok but there would seem to be some latency reported especialy when running multiple apps.
Seems strange that for example, on the IQ835uk model, HP specify 1 x PCI and 2 x PCI Express slots as available expansion slots and the IQ845 is quoted as having 1 x PCI Express 16 slot on the video bus, whats the restriction?

Some other people here have reported that there seem to be BIOS locks on what kind of cards you can make work with the slots. On top of that, you may not be able to get any kind of route "out" of the physical enclosure (in other words you may have to drill a hole). So to me this seems like a no-go. But if you think you can hack it, don't let me stop you.

haha, drilling holes in the case of a new comp, well it wouldnt be the first time i've made a few "customizatons", thanks for the input.
