howdy!  Can someone show me how to bring up the wallpapers for the touchsmart area?  When I hit "Personalize" all it has are "add a tile" "About" etc.  Would appreciate it if you can show me how to bring up the pictures.  It had, as default pictures, a city background, tulips, etc.  Thanks!

You want to change the desktop background you mean?

If so, you do that through Windows and not the TS software suite. Right click the desktop and hit personalize.

Bebe, which version of the HP TouchSmart software do you have (Personalize - About)? I think (don't remember too well now) version 2.0.x didn't have any backgrounds in the TouchSmart software.

On my TouchSmart, I have to wait 1-2 min for it to fully load in then I see a personalize button down in the bottom right. ( Right beside the close button )

Then in the new window it should have a Choose background... button.

I have version 2.0.3058.28080 (that's awfully long, huh?).  Anyway, the reason I know it has it because I've used it.  I just did a full system restore (back to the factory condition) and wiped out my preferences.  So.....got a suggestion?  by the way--love your hair.  Wink

Got that....but darn if the menu doesn't include "Choose background."  Help!  I'm stuck in black!  Surprised

You can download the latest update for the HP TouchSmart shell (version 2.8) from the HP Support site. That will get you the backgrounds. Here's the link to that particular update: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv-7274...

Thanks everyone! It turned out to be an upgrade to the app, like GeekTieGuy recommended. Well, now it doesn't have the stock/basic images (tulips, Golden Gate Bridge, etc). Further suggestions? Otherwise, I'll just load my own images.

Thanks again!

Yeah, the wallpapers probably got installed on the d: drive. I think there is an issue with the 2.8 installer when there is more than one drive letter on the system. You should be able to find the wallpaper pictures in d:\users\public\HP TouchSmart, I think. You can move them from there to c:\users\public\HP TouchSmart and things should be okay. Sorry about the issue. I believe it was fixed for 3.0.
