Does the Desktop icon still work? The icon in the Start Menu? Did you change anything on the system? Add/Remove programs? Run a registry cleaner or some kind of cleanup tool? More information around when this started happening would be useful. Without that it's hard to help.
When I click the small home button on the bottom right of the pc, it says, Smart Center is not responding and Windows are searching for a solution. Any help?

I recovered my computer, then i reinstalled Safari 4, I-Tunes,and QuickTime player.

Does the shortcut in the Start Menu - All Programs - HP - HP TouchSmart still work?

It still says Smartcenter has stopped working. Windows are looking for a solution. Then it stops looking for a soloution and I have to close it.

Okay. So no matter how you try to start it, you get the same result. That's good to know. I'll send you a private message for further troubleshooting. Is that okay with you?

I have my IQ-846 multi-booting and the home button and the programs/hp/HP Touchsmart stopped working after the last Microsoft patch Tuesday. I just get a pop up complaining that the smart center has stopped responding and an option to debug or close. (sorry for the double post)

Ditto. IQ-846 and after last Patch Tuesday the "Home" button no longer launches the Smartcenter. All I get is a pop-up stating Smartcenter has stopped working and a button for debug, which does nothing, or close. It also doesn't work from the programs menu.

Hello all,
Im getting this error now after a system restore, which has done far more bad than good. "Smartcenter has stopped working".

I downloaded the nvidia driver from the HP driver's page. What do you know, all the strange problems I've been having with "7" cleaned up. (SP44488)
There were numerous events in the application log and they all pointed to the nvidia driver module causing issues. Lee

I have the same problem ... and i also have an eror saying notes and calendar stopped working when i start my pc .. also when i press the touchsmart application button it says : weather stopped working and rss stoped working ( i tried to upgrade some features on the applicationg but i cant intsall them .. cause there is an eror when everything is extracted ... my pc tries to intalls them but there comes an eror saying " 1129: Olenitiate: Initiate Failed On line 901 of W:\Pathces\sp44643\intall.wtb " what am i supposed to do ???
