How do you disable the SmartMenu.exe process from starting at logon?

I will present this answer in two manners. The first is the longer way, but much more rewarding and educating. The latter answers your question, quick, easy, nothing learned.

1.
Google "how to end process at startup." Read other topics/responses. See what pertains to you, and read things you might not have thought about on the issue. Do understand what they are saying or want to know more on something, back to Google!. Apply what you learned, without needing to ask.

2.
Press the Window's key and R. Type "msconfig" (no quotes). Click on the tab "Startup." Navigate to HP MediaSmart, and uncheck it.

Actually I had already tried that and the process would continmue to run. I ended up removing the start up registry key to finally fix it. But thanks.

Could anyone help me, please? I have two running processes that I cannot remove from start-up. Both come from HP software and both are useless for me. Due to high memory consumption I am determined to get rid of them, but after looking for some solution in the web i cannot manage it. They aren't present in the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run neither in the msconfig. Any ideas how to SEARCH & DESTROY?

That would be MSCONFIG, but since you haven't mentioned which processes they are, that does cut down on the amount of assistance you'll get.

You're right, Diane. It's like I sent an email without an attachment :) Forgive me, I was sleepy. Here are the files' names:
CLMLSvc.exe
DVDAgent.exe
Currently I'm trying to use Autoruns application, but it says: Error changing item state: No mapping was done between account name and security identifier.

MSCONFIG should get you access to both, however killing CLMLSvc.exe which is core of the Touchsmart media library would kill more then just the process.

I normally don't use my HP MediaSmart software for playing music and organizing photos, but I wonder how about DVD player whose using is obvious... Thank you Diane for redirecting me, I'll continue in the other topic.
