Hi folks

I'm after the HP mini VGA cable, part number FY828AA, for a reasonable price, here in the UK - can you help?

I don't mind sourcing it from the US, or Europe, as long as the source is reliable and  the shipping charges are reasonable.

Many thanks!

Thanks for the heads up :-)

I had spotted that link before and was about to pull the trigger, but their terms say they don't post to Europe. I supposeHP prefer to keep sales for each region separate, but I'll email them and see what they say...

 Regards

I have some contacts in the US i was going to use to recieve the cables who will then resend them to me in Sydney, Australia. I really hate how HP have decided to use a special plug for the VGA out and can understand your frustration. Resellers in Sydney are selling the cables for close to $60AU which is a rip off.

HP policy here is disgusting.
First the special output which forces you to buy a non-standard cable.
Then they charge over 60$ for it via "independent" dealers.
In the USA they charge 35$ but refuse to ship overseas.

Yes, what a rip-off for this little cable/adapter! I tried the UK route but it's hardly ever available from stock and the BT shop wanted over £60 for it (plus shipping!). Bought one from US eBay in the end - still overpriced - but not as overpriced as over here!

Hi...
Thank you so much for sharing such a nice information. I would like to know if HP VGA cables can be shipped overseas. I am looking forward to getting a few for my office.

Well, finally got the adapter after a long wait - the eBay seller had a rather relaxed view on shipping...

Got stung on Customs as well, for an additional £13, but this was because it was labelled as 'other' on the declaration.

To cap it all it doesn't fit!

Although it has the correct part number - FY828AA - it doesn't fit in the slot because the ends of the Mini-VGA plug are too wide. I have tried to push it in but it's too wide.

The nightmare continues :-((

what model notebook do you have?

September 11, 2009 12:08 PM

I don't actually have an HP notebook, but the IQ770 desktop TouchSmart pc.

I suspect there's a difference in the cables for the two product lines. But if I'm being really stupid in not plugging the cable in properly then that would be the better of the two possibilities!

Hi Cripes,

If you havent already, would you consider selling the cable you have? I'd be happy to buy it from you at a reasonable price. I'm located in the UK however I have a contact in London who can assist me in purchasing it from you.

Cheers

Hi there

Yes, I'm happy to sell it at some stage soon - I'm away from base on a cable finding mission for a few days so will be in touch via PM. I'm in the UK too, so there shouldn't be any issues.

Cheers

Thanks for the replies so far. And, thanks to a fellow eBayer's kind consideration I now have the required cable, after agreement to sell a cable separately from a complete boxed outfit offered for sale.

Sorry for the delay, but I will be in touch with those folk who were interested in my MP mini notebook mini to VGA adapter at the weekend, as I'm away travelling at present.

Sorry for the delay folks, but my adapter cable is now for sale :-)

Just to recap, it is the HP FY828AA mini VGA to VGA adapter,  suitable for laptop/portable HP/Compaq 'Mini' computers. It does NOT fit the TouchSmart desktop range...

Excluding shipping, it originally cost me £35, VAT and customs/duty collection charges. I will be happy to sell it for this price, promptly sent post free in the UK. Payment via PayPal (gift) or as agreed.

Overseas interest is fine with shipping charged at cost.

Pictures linked below, and it is brand new, but not with original packing.

Good luck!

I have 3 of these, in original box. They arrived after I already returned my mini 1000 and replaced it with the new mini 110, which already has a built-in vga. If anyone is interested I am sure we can work something out.
