Believe it or not, I already own a touchscreen computer system and would LOVE to upgrade it to use the TouchSmart software.  Is the software available for separate purchase?

No, it's not available for separate purchase.

Any chances it will become available as a stand-alone product at some point in the (near) future?

Not likely. Just thinking about how the testing matrix would explode gives me a bit of a headache.

If you have a really, really, really strong desire to see it as a standalone product, you'd have to try to make a good business case for it.

Open the product to those of us already with a touchscreen system(s) that don't want to spend $1k+ on an entire new computer.

How much would you expect to have to pay for such a, purely hypothetical, capability?

I imagine in the next couple years after Windows 7 comes out many PC companies will be going touchscreen and I will bet dollars to donuts that HP will release the Touchsmart software once touchscreen becomes poular. They would be stupid not to.
