Hello all,

I have an IQ506. My HDD only displays as:

HP Update automatically downloaded the Seagate HD Firmware Update, but I am unsure if I (1) even have a Seagate HD, and (2) if I have the Seagate Drive that requires the update. I already ran the Seagate HK Firmware Update executable, but it didn't scan my machine or tell me if I needed it-- it just had me make the disc that I'm supposed to run at startup to apply the update.  Does anyone know how I can determine if I need this update or not?

Thanks!

The ST3500620AS is the Seagate drive, and yes, you very much want to do this upgrade, it prevents the HD from having a failure that can result in your system not booting, and potential significant data loss.

If you don't need the update when you boot to the disc you made, it will check and then offer to upgrade as needed, it will NOT upgrade or damage drive that does not need updating.

Ah, ok, great-- I knew it was an important update mentioned here on the forums; I just wasn't sure if I had the affected drive. Thanks!
