New mouse batteries?
Hi
I have an HP Touchsmart IQ820 desktop PC (Windows Vista 64-bit).
The pptical mouse pointer freezes for a sec or two sometimes longer then restarts, left and right buttons operate and roller works moving screen up and down orleft and right. Optical light dim when frozen then comes on bright and operates.
I perform a system restore, this not solve the issue. The computer works fine, no crash, I watch a DVD movie with the remote with no problems. Keyboard works fine, I install the latest HP and Windows updates.
¿Some ideas?.
Thanks in advance.
Paul.
Yes, I change 3 times the mouse batteries for new ones, and try diferent brands.
Thanks for your fast reply.

It could be RF interference from a cordless phone or other radio device. Also, the receiver dongle may need to be put in a different USB port to get better reception.
I'll second GTG on te RF interference. I have found that some wireless transmitters like other mice or wireless devices within 30 feet can cause some problems. I think thats why some hard core gamers use wired mice at LAN parties.
One other thought. Take the batteries out or turn the mouse off and look into the emitter port to make sure nothing is blocking the light path. **make sure the mouse is turned off or the batteries are out otherwise you can cause eye damage**. I have had dog hairs (my dog likes to hang out in my office and sheds) as well as dust bunnies accumulate in the light emitter hole and that has messed with my mouse.

Woohoo! I won my Touchsmart!
Many thanks guys for your help.
I have my Wi-Fi Router on the same table behind the TouchSmart.
Also I call HP service and they will send to me a new mouse/keyborad/dongle kit, seems a defective mouse.
Best Regards,
Paul.
