I un-installed it on day 1. Nothing more annoying than pop ups and overlapping AV software.

How to disable Norton.
I want to use AVG instead.
Annoying pop-ups are driving me nuts.
AVG doesn't want to load because of Norton.
Any ideas?
I hate to un-install Norton. I just want to deactivate it.

A lot of AV software won't install overtop of another, because they conflict with eachother. They generally recognize other AV softwares as threats. If you do uninstall Norton though, use the Norton Removal Tool from Symantec- it does not like to remove completely using the Windows uninstaller.

Uninstall Norton from the program list
Click start- all programs- Norton- uninstall tool- uninstall norton
Restart the computer
Install your AVG software
If you need the norton back on your computer in the future then you can click start- all programs- pc help and tools- recovery manager- at the recovery manager select advanced options- re-install programs that came with your computer- select the norton program- install
Restart computer
That should help you out!
