theres some other discussion her about this. Look around a bit and you'll find some good info about what some others have tried.

Woohoo! I won my Touchsmart!
Does anyone see any reason why I cannot upgrade the processor? I know the socket is socket P and is there any reason why I cannot put a mobile socket P Quad core processor in it?

Woohoo! I won my Touchsmart!
I want to use a mobile quad core processor in my 800 series(its the QX9300)
Limitations include power (35w) and fsb speed...
As noted in another thread, I am going to attempt putting a t9500 in as soon as it gets here...
I don't know if any of the quad core processors meet the limitations of the mobo or not, but I'd suggest reading up on it, and then, if you are willing to take the plunge (and spend the $$$) then go for it.

Well here's a link to the QX9300
http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Core_2/Intel-Core%202%20Extreme%20Mobile%20QX93...
So you're telling me there's no way in hell it will work in the Touchsmart? Is it hardware restrictions, or is it bios restrictions?
I'm not telling you anything... because I don't even know for sure which 800t you have coming, you gave a series, not a specific model... and the motherboards vary depending on which one you are getting.
From what I've been able to ascertain, it is the power available for the cpu that is the big limiter on some, on others (like my 507 that has the same mobo, named Eve by HP) it's the fsb that is the issue.
I know that if you have an Eve Mobo, you are limited to the T9500 (to the best of my knowledge from 2 hours worth of research, and it's still just a guess until it gets here and I actually plug it in and turn on the machine....)
Look, you want answers... I'll give you the best answers I can (as will others here) but please relax a little, do a bit more personal research (instead of solely relying on everyone else to do it for you) and add to the pile of knowledge instead of just picking off it...
Sorry if I come off as harsh on this, I don't mean to be...
Eagerly waiting on my new cpu...

It's alright. From the research I've read I'm probably going to get the Maureen board which I think will be in my best interest compared to the Eve board. We'll see how it pans out and I'll let you know more when i get the computer in.
Alright, I definitely am getting the Maureen. From what I've seen I think I can go with the Intel T9900 and I'm going to get 2x 4gb of ram from newegg. The last thing I need to figure out is what is the best video card I can put in this computer.
