Alright well I've been all over this forum and back and there are just not very many definitive answers because either nobody knows, or nobody has tried. So in all my confusion and quest to build the most powerful touchsmart, I'm going to help people find answers much quicker via this thread.

I still have unanswered questions as to the CPU upgrading and the video card upgrading. But according to HP's website if I have the maureen board I can choose ANY Txxxx or Pxxxx processor in that list on my computer, so I'd like to get the T9900. As for the graphics, from what I've read I think the video card CANNOT be upgrade, but only one person has tried, so I might buy a MXM II card and try it myself. I want to try something more powerful than the 9600gt. We'll see what other information I can come up with once my PC actually arrives.

This is all I have as of now, but I will compile more and continue to make it bigger. Feel free to add your own post and I will copy it into the main post with credit given to you.

I am really on the search to build the most powerful Touchsmart but it's very difficult to find any real answers.

What a great collection of resources in one convenient place! I'm sure lots of people will appreciate your hard work!

My recommendation would be to stick with a custom-built PC from the HP Shopping website and maxing out all the options. That way you'll have a supported configuration with return rights and all that.

I somewhat did that. I bought the preconfigured one that comes with everything maxed out except the processor. That way if the mxm card is unupgradable, then I will still have the 9600, and the processor is obviously upgradable and since i only have the 2.0 I can upgrade to something faster and not have a wasted decent cpu since the 2.0 is the lowest processor.

I will show you that I am a belligerent person when it comes to being told I cannot do something because I'd have to deal with "this or that". I'll show you guys how to turn the Touchsmart into a gaming computer.

My hopes are for: T9900 cpu, 8gigs ram, and something lik a gtx 260m graphics card :D

Sounds great! I'm sure it will be a great system and if it works out you'll have a fantasic story to tell. I'm rooting for ya'!

Alright I know for sure I got the IQ846 quick ship model which does in fact come with the Maureen motherbaord. Now that I have that finalized, I am going to be ordering ram from newegg. I will need to buy 2x4gb since theirs comes standard with 2x2gb taking up both slots. After that, I will be ordering a T9900 off of ebay and I will see how successful that is. Once that is finished whether it is a failure or a success, I will then attempt a video card.

BUT*** I don't see any reason why the T9900 would not work when HP's site clearly states that the board will take any Pxxxx or Txxxx model processor.

hey ThePope43,

First off, I didn't say it earlier, but I also wanted to thank you for pulling everything together!

I think for your machine, you are correct, the T9900 should work on it. (mine has an Eve board, so I am limited to the slower fsb).

Please keep us updated when you do this, as my wife's TS has a Maureen in it, and if it works, I'll probably upgrade hers to this.

Have a great day!

Alright my Touchsmart just arrived today and DAMN this thing is BEAUTIFUL! Although, it is SLOW AS AN ASS! Literally, I think a Donkey could process more than this 2.0 Core 2 Duo! I will be ordering my T9900 shortly because this is just downright awful!

Anyways, I did in fact get the Maureen board(woot woot)

I just ordered an 8gb PQI class 6 SD card that I am going to add on for windows ready boost. I will soon be buying 2x4gb from Newegg also.

Near Future specs:

T9900 3.06 Core 2 Duo(6mb cache 1066MHz FSB)
750gb hdd
2x4gb ddr2 800 ram(with 8gb ready boost)
9600m gs but I will be looking for like a 260M or something like that.
