I'm interested in purchasing HP Touchsmart IQ500 series.  All present units come with a free upgrade to Windows 7.  They are offering $300 rebates currently.  Would it be best to wait until the new units ship with Windows 7?  I'm concerned about glitches in the upgrade process.

Yes and no. Either way you'll still get win 7 and be able to do the upgrade. However, I would wait and let the driver and support issues get worked out first.
I have the biggger brother IQ 816 and have been running Win 7 on it since before the public beta and it works qute well, however the Touchsmart software requires some workarounds to get it to work. I'm sure that HP will be releasing (at least I hope they will) a Win 7 version, but I'm not expecting it right away.
As far as glitches, there shouldn't be many other than what I/we have written about here.

When Oct. 22nd rolls around, will HP be ready to ship Touchsmarts with the new Windows 7, or will I have to wait until HP develops a Win 7 version of it's Touchsmart software suite?

I bought my IQ526 from buy.com, factory refurbished, for $750 delivered to my door and it even qualifies for the Win 7 upgrade program and has been approved. So why wait?

Can't really decide whether i buy the IQ525 latest model here in Greece sold at 1.130 euros (best price) or wait 2 months or so to buy the new IQ600/1050. Does anyone know at what price both models are sold abroad so as to compare? Never had a touch computer before and i think i will give it a try, though i wasn't thrilled from the screen's response to touch at the store. And i would like to know if there are some new info on the possibility of a free upgrade to touch software together with the upgrade to win7 which is offered for the moment. Thanks for any commnets in advance.

I read that HP will make some of the new TS 3.0 software available to current users. From what I read it seems like it will be available to those who do the free upgrade to Win7. So in that regards you would qualify for the upgraded software. However, exact details aren't known so can't say for sure. Also I read the new 300/600 Touchsmarts have better Touch hardware. So if you weren't thrilled with the touch response on the IQ525 you might want to wait and go with a 300 or 600.

thanks for the reply, though i decided to wait till the 600 series is available here in Greece, since it will have a better touch hardware (multitouch screen) and software (TS 3.0) to match win7 designed to support touch applications too, not to mention the better hardware (full HD screen, HDMI port, DDR3 ram, 1TB HD, etc.), although the price difference will be significant i guess.
