I am using an IQ846 Touchsmart
Replacing Blue Ray on IQ816....
I am just wondering if any of you guys have a service manual, pictures of how to, a link to instructions of how to take apart the IQ816 so I can replace the BD Rom.
The unit is out of warranty and HP wants $635 to do the replacement after requesting a quote by phone. So I went ahead and got the BD drive(exact match) from Ebay for $85.
I am experienced opening laptops for CPU upgrades, keyboard replacements, etc. But this machine has tricky latches that are hard to locate and release.
Any info on taking apart the unit would be much appreciated.

I am most appreciative for your help. The video tutorial on your suggested URL is exactly what I needed to open the IQ816 with confidence and replace the BD drive without any problems.

I never even thought of that option, I'd love to do this upgrade to my IQ506t, what was the ebay search that you did that helped you find the right part?

I search it on ebay under BC-5600S.
