Technology is a great thing, when in works. I just bought a Tx2, and I've been having CRAZY problems with the pen and writing. Using onenote with it is amazing - but I get that dreaded feeling when using it because in the middle of writing, sometimes the pen will just stop working.

Recalibrating sometimes bring it back, but then it dies again. Rebooting is usually a longer term fix, but it doesn't always work. From this board I've tried:
- reinstall the ntrig driver from the HP website.
- doing a thorough check of the hard drive using hitachi's drive checker (it's okay).
- and I've put it back to the original state (using the partition) at least twice.

Can anyone who would like to help me not run over this laptop with my car please give me some additional ideas? I can't use it when it's this unstable, although it will keep me warm this winter.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. When this happens, do you loose all touch functionality to the device? Pen and finger?

Try going into pen and tablet settings and disabling "touch". The pen tip is supposed to disable the touch feature as long as the tip of the pen is about 1/2" off the screen. If you are like me and hoover the pen while you are pausing or thinking, and the pen is just high enough, your palm or whatever is closer to the screen becomes the input device.

See if that helps some.

thanks for both of your questions/comments - I neglected to mention that I've turned off the touch mode in order to troubleshoot this - it makes no difference.

Could it be re-enabled so as to test to see if it is the driver crashing and all touch functionality being lost or just the pen?

Yes, You just go back into control panel, pen and touch settings and recheck the box for touch.  I do it often on my single touch TX2500.
