Anyone know what is new? The description only says adds support for next generation windows operating systems. Just updated now, but I don't know notice anything new yet.

The new Win7 F.21 bios does NOT undervolt the CPU, but it seems it manages the CPU and GPU (throttling) as well as the fan in a better way, resulting in lower temps and quiter operation (less fan noise). If you have an earlier tx2 you would still benefit from undervolting after the F.21 bios update by using a CPU undervolting utility running as a Windows service.
F.21 also most probably has Win7 SLIC 2.1 to enable factory pre-installations of Win7 by HP.
Trim support I dont believe to be something needing support in the bios. Its a firmware supported fuction on the controller of the SSD and then software componenet in the operating system.

I just installed it.
After installation, however, my tx2 did not boot at once - it showed a message like "Your computer has been moved to hibernate because of overheating".
After Powering it off and on again, it fortunately worked again.
I did not notice any change in CPU temps yet.

The exact same thing happened to me when my TX2 shut down after installing the update. Working fine now though.
Same here.
The only apparent change I'm noticing from the update is the fingerprint reader being detected on logon, it rarely worked before (on Windows 7).
I also noticed in device manager that two unknown devices showed up, Windows can't find the correct drivers for them. Anyone have any ideas?
After installation, I also received this message about overheating. I was afraid, but my tx2 is better now - less fan noise and this firmware has HP SLIC 2.1 :D
BTW, I would like to know if this behavior is OK:
When my battery is 100% charged and I shutdown, unplug the power line and re-plug the power line, the battery is 96%. I have HP TX2 8-cell Battery and it gave me 4 hours and 30 minutes in power save mode (but Wi-Fi always on).
My others HP notebooks don't loss the battery charging so fast.
Um starting up eats up 4% juice I guess. On my old laptop after about 20% wear, I would charge to 100% shut down, then when I booted up again, I had 90%. I'm not sure if the battery is being used while the laptop is shut down.
BTW what is SLIC 2.1? Sorry for my ignorance.
=/

In America - how much does the Windows 7 Upgrade cost?
In Germany, HP wants 24,90 (about 37 US Dollar) for sending the DVD. This is quite much in my opinion.

Hp did not give me a price when I signed up for their upgrade program. Not sure how much it will be here.
Thank you zor for answering my question.

1. in US this is about US $7
2. You will not receive OEM (offline activation) key; you will receive a retail key for your upgrade version. OEM keys are reserved for factory installations (new machines only). If you do it at home, it will be piracy!

Well, I think we will receive Recovery Disks (operating system, drivers and softwares) like Vista. So, after the first startup, Windows 7 will already be activated (offline activation).
Remember that all product keys on HP notebooks are OEMAct. See your Microsoft Label.
No, you won't receive recovery disks. Like CyrenesFriend said, OEM activation only happens at the factory.

If this key is retail, people will be able to activate a non-hp machine with this license. I think the Microsoft Label will be: Windows 7 Home Premium OEMAct HP, for example.
BTW, I think it doesn't matter. Our original Windows 7 is comming!
Cheers!

It will be retail. That's what they (and other OEMs) did with the XP/Vista programme in late 2006/early 2007. People got retail keys. A retail key is valid on one single machine; if you use it on a non-HP machine, you will lose it this way (to the other machine), unless that is what you want. The OEM key in factory images is one and the same for all machines produced by HP. TThey won't give you this.

At last! 9.9 mobility version is super: higher WEI and much lower temps.
