Heh. 7:07. Snicker. Snicker.
Got the confirmation last week that I was a "finalist" for the Windows 7 launch party on Oct 22nd and got the followup email last night that I had been picked as a host. Got another email this morning telling me that Microsoft would be sending me my "Signature" copy of Windows 7 Ultimate before the launch date along with some materials to help me become familiar with it. In addition to that, I get some party favors and other things for the guests.
can y'all guess what the center of the party os going to be? Well, my Touchsmart of course. I have been running Windows 7 on it for most of this year and things have been working quite well...as well as the Touchsmart software, so I'm excited about not only showing off the Official Windows 7 but my Touchsmart as well.
If any of you are in the Knoxville TN area and want to attend, send me a private message and I will send you an invite. Its Scheduled to start at my home on October 22nd at 7:07 PM ET.

My kit arrived last week but I haven't installed anything yet as I'm trying to wait until all teh updated drivers and software are out.
My TS is running quite well with the RTM on it with the Touchsmart Suite so if I have to do the launch party with the RTM, I will since it took so long to get everything optimized.

Hey...where'd that pic come from. Oh well, thats me all the way over on the right (your right) in the yellow shirt. The bike (The yellow one in front of me) is an 82 Yamamha Vision that I restored from scratch. (My other hobby)

heh heh heh...maybe I SHOULD buy a lottery ticket. Got an email confirmation that I'm a finalist for one of the Launch Party laptops too!! Too bad its not a TX2...been wanting one of those pretty bad.

Win 7 Ultimate Signature Edition is now fully installed with the new Touchsmart 3.0 software running with all the currently available tiles from HP.
The clean install I chose to do really went off without a hitch and most, if not all the TS drivers were recognized and installed during the initial setup.
I had a little difficulty installing the new TS apps at first then I realized the HP hadn't released the new Shell program until a couple days ago, so a quick uninstall of all the TS apps and then reinstalling after the 3.0 shell did wonders.
It seems a little different and sliding through tiles is a bit of a change - you have to touch the title bar to slide..at least I do - but it works. Now all I need is notes, webcam and maybe a gmail app and I'll be happy.
The party starts tonight at 7:07 and I have about 16 guests attending. I got all the Party Pack bags stuffed with favors - kudos to my wife for doing a great job of finding cool little things that all coordinate with the windows color scheme!
I've already taken lots of pictures and will be taking plenty more tonight.
I guess the only annoying thing is the my TS is mad at me for moving it from its happy little place on my dest to its temporary location in my living room. The back panel is vibrating with a vengance! I gut some rubber feet out of an old mouse pad and put them under the back stand and the acrylic feet and that helped a little. Also had to use electrical tape on the back panel to quiet it down.
Finally...I did not know what I was missing until I hooked my logitech 2.1 speaker system up to the line out!! OMG! They make my TS's speakers sound like a $3.00 set of earbuds. These puppies are stayin. Just got done watching a NCIS that I recorded the other night via the Touchsmart video tile and it absolutely ROCKS! Also been playing around with the Hulu app and I like it too although it seems to work only intermittently. It may be a bandwidth issue though.

OK...the party went off with a hitch. Got the vibration under control finally. 4 guests called at the last minute to let me know that they couldn't come so I have lots of food left over.
However, the most embarrasing thing was that the theme of the party was "Getting in TOUCH with Windows 7" and my touchscreen decides to wig out. I'm not sure but I think it may have been due to the CCFL light bulbs in my living room because I couldn't calibrate it correctly. Whenever I tried to tap on the X to close a window, it would either maximize or just move and I had almost no touch in the upper right corner. I think it may have been the lights because it worked all DAY before the party started.
Anyway, its back on my desk again sans the vibration and touch is working.
I'll probably upload the pictures this weekend.

Doubt that it is the lights. I have my 816 in a dark room and it does the exact same thing. Think it is the drivers/firmware for the touch lasers.
