my cd will not eject. they said i cannot eject it manually, but the hp help in my computer said i could by removing the right back panel and finding the manual ejection hole and sticking a straightened paper clip in and eject it. i can't find that hole! can anyone help? The phone help wants to sell me a new driver.
This is my 2nd and different problem I am having with my CD/DVD on my Touchsmart.
Now my system constantly goes through the motion of trying to eject a CD even if the CD drive is empty. If I am playing a game it will eject the cd and the ejection motor will continue to attempt to eject the cd even after it is removed. It is also impossible to watch a movie as it will at any given time begin the ejection process and continue to try to eject and do it over and over again from a time span of 1 minute to well over 30 minutes.
HP suggested I update my Bios, I did that 3 weeks ago so when they asked me to do it agan it told me that my bios was up to date but HP (By way of e-mail assist) told me that was an error message (I think they are using a script to reply to me).
They gave me a link to a malware/spyware antivirus software in the thought that it may be a virus on my system. (I am running spybot search and destroy and Macfee) The software they linked me to is "SuperAntiSpyware" It is running now and looking for a virus.
I think that the drive in my system is defective.... If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate your input.
For background, 2 weeks ago my CD refused to eject any cd when I pressed the eject button. HP guided me in how to open the system and remove the CD/DVD drive and re-seat it. That seemed to fix the problem. Now this problem just started yesterday after I stopped playing Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. I was sitting at my computer and reading a book when the disk ejected. I thought nothing of it only to think it odd that it would eject for no reason.. Then I heard the eject motor trying again, and agan, and again to try to eject.
I powered off the system and even when I first turned the power back on the CD acted up long before windows loaded.
Now I sit here and wonder if buying this PC was a mistake and if I should spend the $300 for an extended warranty while I still can.
Smile, God is watching you.
I am using an IQ846 Touchsmart
