Cannot link directly to the hp parts supply website, but yes, I do see its price as $80.75, part number 516454-001.
Not sure why the price difference, but it happens alot with HP since the two stores are not linked.

hmmm... I'd go for the cheaper one. :-)
Couldn't find the other one though.

Woohoo! I won my Touchsmart!
I've heard rumors of a pen that had an "eraser" function. Maybe the more expensive one is that one?

Not sure if it is rumor or not. Read about it on these forums somewhere.

My open box TX2 didn't have a pen. I ordered the 19.99 one and it works perfectly. I also noticed the crazy price on the other page
The rumour IS a FACT. Dell xt tablet pen has an eraser and works with the tx2 and I USE ONE. It has two buttons and the smallest button works as an eraser. I think its the closest thing to wacom's permanent eraser.
Can you link the exact product please Joetheboy?

Well when I just checked the HP store is listing 2 different pens.
A tx2000z eraser pen for $40: http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/computer/categories/specialty_products/1/a...
And a tx2 pen for $24: http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/computer/categories/specialty_products/1/a...
I have no kind words to explain the difference in price between buying an extra pen from the HP store and buying a "replacement" pen from the parts store. But basically HP sells computers, not parts and this is going to be very obvious if you ever need to order parts. The only other thing I can add is the prices for a few other replacement parts I looked up out of curiosity..
Display assembly - $704.90
Motherboard (no cpu, ram, or fan) - $376.20
Top plastic cover w/ touchpad - $75.05
Screws - $49.40
Rubber screw covers for the display - $49.40
Rubber feet - $42.75
Total for roughly 40% of the laptop in parts - $1378.45
Cost for a new one - About $800
Baka:
The reason for the above is that a tx2000z eraser pen is no the same as a tx2 pen, different types of digitizers.
The reason it costs more to buy parts than a new computer is because if something fails, it is usually one thing, and it still costs less to buy that individual part than a new computer.
Prototype is right, tx2000 series uses wacom digitizer and tx2 uses N-trig digitizer. N-trig is a cheaper alternative to wacom so hence the heaper pen price. For those who want to know the Dell pen im using for my tx2, here is the direct link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220446886689
Plus if you looked, alot of those prices list an alternate price as well below it for an exchange program, typically at half cost or less.
