I'm having a problem with my 507, in that the Volume buttons on the right side don't do anything.

Is there a service or driver for this?

Also this might be a funny thing to say, but the Touchsmart app seems totally useless (and redundant), if you want to use this device as a Media Center (mostly live tv watching).

Why are they not integrated? (or am I missing something?)

There is an update on hp.com that addresses your volume button issue.. the Keyboard and Hardware Manager update.

That update did not work, not only do the buttons still not work, upon resume from standby the computer will turn the volume all the way down to 0 on it's own. If you try to turn the volume up, it goes back down to 0.

Think the buttons are stuck?

Reinstall the keyboard drivers. They also run the volume on the side of the monitor. Uninstall them first from Device Manager. Then go to the Recovery Manager, reinstall Hardware drivers, and reinstall the HP Keyboard Solutions. Restart the computer, and the volume buttons should start working correctly.

Hi,
I'm having exactly the same problems as baldbear with my IQ500, the side volume control does nothing and the volume goes to zero after the machine has been on standby. Also the volume mixer controls become corrupted when I adjust them.
As a new Touchsmart owner I'm not impressed with this at all!
I'll try RaVenNs driver reinstall tonight in the hope of fixing this.

Thanks for the advice.

I tried all the fixes here, none of them work. So I just uninstalled that keyboard driver, and don't run the touchsmart shell at all (it really serves no purpose for me). I only use the Media Center interface on this machine anyway, so I'll use the remote only.

I'm having the same problem with the volume buttons and haven't found a solution yet.

Here's what I did.

I uninstalled the driver called: Microsoft eHome Remote Control Keyboard Keys.
Then I went to control panel>Recovery Manager>Next>No to program recovery>Next>Yes>Next>Select HP Keyboard Solution>Next>Let it restart your computer.

My volume keys on the side of my computer work now.
