I got my tx2z without internal wireless-N support, so I want to pull the card and replace it with a unit that supports Wireless-N. I grabbed an Intel 5300 that's supposed to be compatible with HP laptops, not thinking I'd have any issues since I've replaced Broadcom cards in my other athlon-powered HPs with Intel 3945ABG cards (since Broadcom is less Linux-compatible than the Intel cards are - before anybody asks why!), but this one causes the system to halt at boot with an error for unsupported hardware.

Can someone who got theirs with the Wireless-N option flip off the cover and provide the HP Part number/Manufacturer/Manufacturer part number so I can source the proper hardware?

Thanks!

I upgraded mine (I have a tx2-1274nr). I purchased part no. 487330-001 (WLAN 802.11abgn) from the hp parts store. I also added the bluetooth module (483113-001) and cable (487697-001). Everything works great. I downloaded the Touchsmart tx2 Notebook PC maintence and service guide (available on the HP website), which lists all the parts and numbers for the tx2z models.

I hope this helps.

Would those also work in a 1224ca tx2?

Oh and your item number for the BT Module is incorrect.

According to the guide, it should work. The WLAN module is for use in Canada, US, US Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Guam, and Puerto Rico. If you are outside of these regions than you have to use 487330-002. The bluetooth card and cable should work. One warning on the bluetooth card and cable, you must take most of the computer apart to install, so I decided to take it to a computer technician to let him install it.

That HP part number seems to be a Broacomm 4322AGN. That's most helpful. Looks to be about $20 on eBay so after I confirm that it works with OpenSUSE and Ubuntu (grrr... Broadcomm) I'll pick one up.

Thanks!
