RAM is pretty expensive right now, I think. Especially 4GB modules.
HP's US site has been updated with the new TouchSmart 300 and 600's and can be configured and ordered. Right now they're not showing the retail models, just have them available to configure to order. The 600 comes in 2 flavors, the 600T and 600XT. The 600T is only available with integrated graphics and no blu-ray. The 600XT has the HDMI and composite-in ports as well as the blu-ray drive. The 600XT also has an additional cpu option, the Core2 Duo T9800. There's a 6 GB RAM option on the 600T whereas the 600XT offers an 8 GB option. I configured a 600XT with max hardware. I left the OS as Home Premium, no accessories, warranty, etc. The total is $2729.99!!! Are they crazy?? They have a $250 instant rebate on them.

It used to be $3299. I took it into conisderation while looking for an all-in-one PC, but the prices are too high.

True. If I was to configure one I would probably only go with 4 or 6 GB for now. I don't think I need more than that. Plus it leaves room for expansion down the road. I'm just surprised by the price of the loaded system. Most of that price was the CPU ($460 to upgrade to highest CPU) and RAM ($400 to upgrade to 8 GB). It just makes the buying decision more difficult when you compare it to the other systems out there.

Yea, I remember seeing that in my search. It's not even touch screen, I believe. Sony's new Win7 model with touch screen is $1999 for the highest model.
Here's something interesting. I just tried configuring a 300. The only graphics card choice is the integrated Radeon HD3200. On the next screen you have the option to add a blu-ray drive. However, when you select blu-ray it brings up a conflict error message stating the selected optical drive can not be combined with the selected graphics card.

Yeah, and it is not the high-end model with 25.5" screen.

Funny how mfg's are decreasing the size with their new models. Sony went from 25.5 down to 24" and HP to 23". If they came out with a 27" I'd actually consider using it to replace my 32" LCD tv.
OK, so you're saying on the one hand that the 600 series is too expensive ("Are they crazy??") and on the other you're saying you want a bigger model, which would make it even more expensive. Not quite sure I understand your logic.
The logic from the manufacturer is that 20'' and 23'' fits into more spaces in the home, so should enable a larger marketplace.

I think you misunderstood me. I don't think the 600-1055 is too expensive. I think the 600XT configured with the top CPU and RAM for an extra $800+ is crazy. Although it's that way for any model you configure, you always pay a premium for the top end. I've found a step or two below the top gives the most bang for the buck. And I agree that the smaller size is better for where they're targeting it...kitchens and bedrooms and living rooms. But for me, 23" is too small for a bedroom tv. Given the price of the IQ800, I would be willing to pay a couple hundred more than the 800 for a 27" screen.
Ah, that makes sense now. Thanks for not giving up on me.
I'm not sure what the price curve for additional inches on the screen would be. Maybe it would be more than a couple hundred for the jump from 25'' to 27'' considering that the area of the screen grows by squares and not linearly. Plus there would be more plastic, sheet metal, etc. And there are manufacturing issues to consider too. The size of glass "sheets" as they come in bulk, etc. You might be creating more waste by cutting the glass into 27'' sizes. That would increase the price too.
I wouldn't give up on you GTG. From the week I've been on here I've already seen the great info you provide. Good points, it probably would be more than a couple hundred to go to 27". The other thing I'm thinking about is usability. I don't think I would like having to wheel my chair up to in front of my entertainment center to use the touch interface. So I guess from the usability standpoint for touch bigger may not be better. I just want bigger for the tv use. That's why I wish they also added video out. I actually thought about getting the business TS now that they added DVI-out on it. Guess that's the trade off, HDMI and composite inputs for the consumer and video out for the business. Maybe I'll just get a USB to DVI adapter. I guess I'm just picky. I want it all!!! :)

LoL very much so. I do want it all, and I do want it now :) Can't wait for Thursday to get here!!
I've been trying to research the GeForce G200 graphics card that comes in the 600 series, and there's very little info about it out there.
I realize the TS all-in-ones aren't meant to be gaming computers, but if one were to order a touchsmart on Thursday, with all options on the table (i.e. 300, 500, 600, 800), and considering all graphics card possibilities, which would be the best gaming computer? Specifically, I'm looking to run FSX. Again, I realize it'll never run as well on a TS as it would on a high end gaming computer... my question is which graphics option is the best of the lot?

If you want to game on the TS, make sure you get one with dedicated graphics rather than integrated. In the case of the 600, that would be the GeForce GT230M. Here's a chart with the what mobile graphics cards can run which games at different settings. http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html
OMG...I wish I had found this page earlier! It would have save me hours, days, weeks and months of frustration...
I purchased a TS 546t a few months ago, with "integrated graphics". I then purchased Adobe CS4 Design Premium and installed it. During my 30 days of training on lynda.com, I discovered that many new features in Photoshop were unavailable to me because of the graphics.
I have been talking to HP many times (unfortunately, every time I get different answers). I've also been talking to Nvidia, Adobe, Microsoft, and Costco Concierge Services (all provide great service, BTW).
Thankfully, I had purchased my computer through Costco.com, so I am still able to return it. I had decided to upgrade to either the same computer, or the 800 series, with the 512mb graphics, when the new systems came out.
I've been trying to get information on the 600xt, which is confusing, because it is described as a "discrete" graphics card, but when you go to "specs", and click on "help me decide", it says it is integrated, and not suitable for all uses.
I've been told by HP that the specs are incorrect, and they will be changed. I've also been told that all the graphics are "integrated", and that's not necessarily a bad thing...
I finally took a leap of faith, and ordered the 600xt tonight. Sure hope it will have the GPU I need, and support Open GL! I couldn't decide on the tv tuner...is it worth the extra amount?
Hi do you know if is a diference betwen hp touchsmart 600-1055 and hp touchsmart 600xt because i have the 600-1055 and a notice that the 600xt came with a quad core cpu and i wonder if a can change my actual core 2 duo procesor to this one quad core
