I have just purchased my IQ810 in the UK. Very pleased until I started the investigation into getting a wall mount for the unit. The wall mount is not available in the UK (even though the hp.co.uk refers to it being "available separately". There is even a video on the .co.uk showing you how to install it. The wall mount is of course available in the US, but the US store will not ship to the UK. The thing has gone back in the box now. HP in the UK have been little short of useless bouncing me around various departments with nobody knowing why it is not available and when it will be so in the UK. They cannot confirm if the US part will fit the UK chasis (if I was somehow able to get it over to the UK). No offer to look into it, help or get back to me.

Anyway of for a cup of tea to calm down and consider whether I should take the thing back and say goodbye to HP touchsmart.

I ordered and am waiting for an 816t with the VESA adapter from HP directly. When it arrives I can e-mail you photos fitting it if you like.

I want to post that the IQ VESA adapter is for a 200x100 mount. It took me quite awhile to find that info.
The only semi affordable articulated LCD arm with a high enough weight rating I could find is the 7500-1500 by innovative office products. When I get it up I'll post some pictures.
edit. if anyone is interested of course.

Edit. I canceled the 7500-1500 due to it's profile from the wall and went with the peerless IM-740P

Hi, just got mine shipped from the States. Thanks for the offer of help. Would be interested to see how you get on. You are correct about the VESA adapter size, it is on page two of the manual for the part, which is obviously no help before you buy it!

What number did you phone to get it?
From Canada cannot get US HP.

Hi I also have the HP touchsmart IQ810 and I bought it about 2 days ago I also wanted the wall mount for this product but I have been to every single tecnology place there is and they all never heard of it so I email the acutal US hp company and they told me that they will release the wall mount this year in europe in this april 2009 I hope this information will be usefull for you.

Hi Zaddy thanks. I got mine from the US. It works fine and is now on the wall. Very pleased. Although, I took it down and sunk the mounting bracket into the wall as the machine ended up quite proud of the wall. This was nothing to do with the HP mount rather the VESA mount.

Do you think that it looks better on the wall or on a desk I want your full opinion thank you!

can you please post some pictures?

i have the 504 and i'm still waiting for a fabricated mounting kit. I have the 504 in my kitchen/dining and putting it in a wall is ideal for me [free up some table space].

Hi,
Thanks for the interest. The plasterer finished today. It should be dry and painted by the weekend then I can re-mount it. I will post some pictures then. Thanks for the interest.

On the moutning vs table-top point, I did not ever use it on the table top so cannot really give any advice. Sorry.

More on the weekend.

Love it on the wall. Loved it 15" from my face on the desk. Wish I could keep it in my office but it fits perfectly in our tiny living room.

well here it is. the first to be approved by HP as mentioned by the manufacturer.

http://www.iversal.com/index.html

this is the kit needed to wall-mount 500 series touchsmarts. you just need to purchase the mount kit [flat wall mount or articulating].

January 25, 2009 5:34 PM

well the iversal.com website is up and running now and they are accepting orders now. it's just a shame that the price kind of went up. but there's no other alternative for now. anyway, placed my order for the kit since i really want to wall-mount my touchsmart IQ504t.

anyone considering this too?

This looks like a nice mount. It's expensive though, considering the mount for the 800 series is only $49. I wanted to wall mount mine in December so I got impatient and bought the IQ800 mount. It doesn't have the same hole pattern required for the 506 and sticks out a little on the bottom, slightly less than the feet. I drilled out the proper holes and made it work and it has been fine for me. Aesthetics are secondary to me so it's fine, although I don't think it looks too bad myself since the adapter is black. I ended up doing all this so I could use it in both my bedroom and my Trailer (RV). I purchased two of the same wall mounts and installed one in the RV and one in my room, now I can move it back and forth between them pretty easily. Given the walk-up usability of the PC, it's a good candidate for wall mounting and it has been great to have in the RV when camping.

Hi Heffe,

any pictures you can provide us on using the 800 series mount on the 500 series?

how much work around did you do? it would be great to see where you did the drilling.

thanks.

From start to finish the whole thing probably took 2 hours, some of that time spent contemplating what I needed to do and some of it spent installing the wall mount to use with the adapter.  This first picture shows the original stand on top and the 800 wall adapter on the bottom.  Clearly the hole patterns are different.  I don't have pictures of the final product so you'll have to use your imagination.  Essentially I drilled four screw holes to match the table stand and one large hole to allow the spot for the memory cover bolt.  It looks to me like they used all five screws for the wall mount on the 800 series, but I am only using four.

Wall mount adapter hole patterns

This next picture shows the profile view.  You can see that the bent tabs on the mount plate are different as well.  I ended up just bending them flat on the wall adapter since they didn't match up at all.  While it would have been nice to have the tabs since they will help with the load on the mounting screws in the bracket, I'm taking my chances that the screws alone are strong enough.

Wall mount adapter tabs

Lastly, the part that isn't visible in any pictures I have is that the cover (I think it's the memory cover) that goes around this mount has slots in it to accomodate either the table stand or the mount, the problem is that the slots in the cover aren't quite long enough to accomodate the wall adapter so I had to lengthen them a little.  I was a little disappointed to have to alter plastic, but I figured what the heck since it was only cosmetic and on the back, and the lengthening was only a little bit.

Once the bracket is attached to the PC, an adapter plate with the rubber feet against the TouchSmart then bolts to the bracket in the pictures above.  That plate then attaches to your wall mount.

Here is a view from the front with it wall mounted.  You can see the bottom of the adapter sticking below the unit.  If you're looking for perfection, then this isn't the solution for you.

TouchSmart Wall Mounted Front

Here is a poor picture from the back side.

TouchSmart Wall Mount Back-side

I just re-installed this after brining it back in from the trailer when I took these so the cables aren't neatly routed, but that's about it.

January 28, 2009 8:52 PM

very nice. thanks for taking the time in explaining in details the stuff you did. it looks great being wall mounted.

question, where did you got the wall-mount arm? how much was it. does it tilt [up/down] or looks like it just swivel and extends.

thanks.

January 28, 2009 9:38 PM

The wall mount is an AVF Vector. I got it at a local hardware store and I believe the cost was near $50 but I don't remember exactly. I did a little searching for mounts and found a wide range of choices on-line, but in the end it came down to finding what was available when I ready for the installation.

Bottom line is that you can use any VESA compliant mount with a suitable weight rating. This particular mount swivels 180 degrees at each joint and the swivel at the display allows movement to tilt up, down, left, right, and some rotation clockwise/counter-clockwise. The tilt is great for setting the right viewing angle when sitting across the room. The TouchSmart is definitely a heavy unit so I was worried about the mount being strong enough, but it is definitely sturdy as-is and I'm happy with it.

Good luck.

January 28, 2009 10:10 PM

that's the same type of mount that i'm looking for. if you can remember where you bought it and model number, i will appreciate it. :)

i saw a similar one at BJs for something around $50.

another thing i'm looking at is an elegeant way to hook-up a 2.1 powered speaker. first problem is, i have to take out the cable from the powered speakers if i want to listen to the built-in speakers of the touchsmart. and that means, i have to take out the cover too....so it becomes cumbersome after some repetition....
if only the touchsmart has a good bass response [or a mini sub]...

thanks again.

This is the mount here:

 http://www.avf-vector.com/en/products/flat-panel-tv-wall-mounts/p7004/

One interesting thing to note is the box I have states the weight capacity as 30lbs, but the web site shows 66lbs.  In my opinion, 30lbs is about all I would trust on this.   If I remember correctly, when I weighted my TS it came out around 24lbs and it feels pretty solid on this mount.

I purchased the mount at a Friedman Bros. Home Improvement store.
