Greetings,
I am seriously contemplating the purchase of the IQ800 for a kitchen and I specifically am interested in the 800 because of the larger screen size.
I saw both that the new 600 has been launched, and that Win 7 drivers are starting to trickle out for even the 800, if I am not mistaken.
I am drawn to the 800 due to the larger screen size. I realize the hardware in it isn't quite as powerful as the new 600 models, but for this application, I am not sure it is going to matter. I basically want this for an "intelligent" TV in the kitchen that has DVR capability.
So, not wanting any part of Vista, has anyone out there successfully performed a clean install on their 800 using the RTM of Win7? How did it go? Did the drivers and the recently released touch apps go on smoothly? Any caveats or issues in the device manager once finished?
I have performed literally hundreds of Windows installs, so I know what I am doing, but as we all know, if the driver support isn't there, it just isn't there. I suppose I could wait for the official HP release of the Win 7 upgrade package that would be otherwise fully supported, but I don't want to wait, and I don't want all the bloatware that goes along with that. I want to end up with a "lean and clean" machine that has only the bare drivers and touch apps installed.
So, 800 owners running Win 7 RTM, please enlighten me on your experiences, please.
Thanks in advance,
-Rob
