It appears that everything is working fine on my IQ846 after upgrading to Win 7 except the Media Smart suite (specifically need Blu Ray as those can't be played through Windows Media Center).  I upgraded to Windows 7 using upgrade DVDs sent to me by HP.  The DVD software was not there, so I downloaded from HP's web site.  During install, I get the following error message:

Error applying transforms.  Verify that the specified transform paths are valid.

c:\hp\tmp\src\1033.mst

I've "unhid" the folders and all appears to be fine...thoughts on why software won't install.  Note that per HP's instructions, I uninstalled the Media Smart Software prior to upgrading to Windows 7.

Maybe something happened during download to corrupt the file you downloaded. I'd suggest deleting the file and re-downloading it. This happens from time to time.

If that's not the case, it looks like you need to get in touch with support one more time and tell them about this problem.

Thanks...I've downloaded and retried a couple of times with the same error...tech support, here I come...

ohhh very VERY interesting, that's exactly the same transform failure you see in the latest Cyberlink PowerDVD 7 Ultra update for non-HP machines.

Since HP's DVD program leverages the Cyberlink components they have to be related.

I have the same Smart Media DVD problem with my HDX 18t. Does HP have a timeline of when this will be fixed? Its very aggravating to not be able to play Blu-ray when that is one of the main reasons I wanted this particular computer.

I'm having the same problem still - 1/29/10. Just got off the line with HP and they said they only recognized it as a real problem a couple weeks ago. Has there been any solution that my guy wasn't aware of??

what if you manually install the software

The bug is in the installer itself, I have seen that more recent builds of the application seem to be updating acceptably on their own via their wizard, so you may want to remove the app and install the newest version from your model support page.

Managed to install everything Just now after several days of trying and failing i have a hp hdx16 and had all the same issues as all of use:

Error applying transforms.

Verify that the specified transform paths are valid.

c:\hp\temp\src\1033.mst error on all mediasmart software even though i uninstalled it before upgrading to windows 7 i think the problem is to do with registry files so what i did first got a registry cleaner e.g cleanmypc- registry cleaner (free licence code on youtube)..cleaned registry files with it....then went into my registry (by clicking start then type regedit) ctrl F to searh the registry and look for old mediasmart software & cyberlink(e.g put cyberlink in the search field) delete everything you find on your computer including searching your drive. the real fix that worked for me after doing all of the above .......the following i system restore a few times till i finally got it right because i must have deleted a windows installer file so it wouldn't install or uninstall somethings but dont worry system restore will fix any errors you do to your registry. You dont have to do it if you dont want to but the following worked for me.click start type ''regedit'' press ctrl F then seach 1033.mst (if thats the error code your getting like i was) and delete the files that come up. I also suggest running the installation after everytime you delete a registry to see if it works and avoid deleteing registrys that do not need deleteing. Hope This Works Like It Did For Me

Paul - I tried looking for the latest MediaSmart DVD at ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software11/COL32428/pv-80322-1/sp44638.exe like you suggested a few days ago but it looks like it's not up there anymore. Would you mind posting the latest version? Thanks.

this problem has been known about by HP since October 2009 and, as far as I can tell HP has not solved it yet. Six months later and I still have not received the computer with the features and functionality that I was promised. That's a problem.

kumar said: same issue here on a laptop... Got a warning during upgrade to windows 7 that media smart programs might stop working. I called HP support and they asked me to uninstall the media smart programs before proceeding and suggested I install it by downloading it from hp support site post-upgrade. I get the 1033.mst transform error when I try to install it now. ....
Even HP's own site is aware of it http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=c01778... Frustrating....It would nice for HP to alteast acknowledge the issue..and say that they are trying to resolve it... kumar

You do know that HP has a resolution to that "known error" correct? from that same linked list of Known Issues "Update to HP MediaSmart DVD Application Update 3.0.2.3420 or greater from www.hp.com/support ."
