I don't think Microsoft is allowing anyone to ship the Touch Pack in any form other than preloaded on a new system with Windows 7.
Anyone know if hp will be releasing the Windows 7 Touchpack for the IQ846? The funny thing is that when I was in Staples and playing with an older Touchsmart, they had a few touch type games. When I got my IQ846 it came with the HP games but no games built to for touch like the one in the store.
I see there is a Touch Pack of games with windows 7 but after I installed the 7 upgrade, still there are no applications to take advantage of the touch surface.
Anyone have any suggestions?

And they wonder why so many don't trust them. They talked-up their touch pack and then when you buy there product they don't offer it!?
Ridiculous!

Search for it on the net and if you are lucky you can find a download link.

I thought it was just ME!!! I received my Windows 7 upgrade from HP because I just purchased my Touchsmart IQ5226 the end of August .. So I was excited about getting the FREE ... upgrade.
After reading for months how Windows 7 had these really cool applications that would take FULL advantage of my Touchsmart features.
I even read on the internet about the great programs such as the Microsoft Touch Pack. Well NOW to my surprise it's NOT part of Windows upgrade. It's rumored to be part of OEM systems.... I don't see any other touch application with my Window 7 other than the HP ones.
Well when I realized a new Touchsmart was coming I tried to return my PC but Best Buy would not take it unopened because it was over 14 days and disconitued.
So I said "No Problem" I am getting the update anyway ....
well first Microsoft does not include the Touch Pak ... and now the "NEW" HP Touchsmart software update does not appear to have all the 3.0 programs.
I really think HP should have pulled their "old" products from the retail marketplace a month before so people like me would not feel "STUCK".
I Love the features I've played with so far but ... had I known ... i would have wait.
So my question is: On the new Touchsmart 600 what 3.0 prgrams do you get? Next ... What Touchsamrt 3.0 programs are missing from the HP "free" Windows 7 upgrade?
It it worth keeping my "OLD / NEW" Touchsmart ... or should I try to sell ... at a loss and get the new old.
OR .... be done with HP ... wait until Christmas and see what other vendors have touch .. PCs???
If you are ever going to buy a computer from a store, go to Costco. At Costco you have up to 90 days to get a full refund. At Best-buy they have a program of where they reserve the right to deny a refund for almost any reason.
But your right about HP. I want to upgrade my Toshiba Tablet touchscreen computer but after dealing with HP and the early problems I have had with my Touchsmart, I don't think I will be buying one of their Touch Screen Laptops.

I have the Touchpack installed on mine (Beta Tester) and honestly, it gets boring after a while. It was nice to show off at my Launch Party - especially when I used the virtual globe to zoom in on my childhood home and show my parents - but that was about it.
Surface lagoon screensaver worked in the RC but not in the final version. Hmmm.

Woohoo! I won my Touchsmart!
For us that don't have it, this post is like rubbing it in! LOL
I can imagine hearing a multi-million dollar lottery winner tell us that the money was fun in the beginning, but after spending the first few million the fun fades....
I want my damn touchpack! LOL

GREAT ..... reply
I agree ... being screwed feels the same. You may start out LOVING it . then grow to HATE it!!!! Or the other way around.
I am thinking about Getting the new 600 and selling my IQ526. It's my fault I suppose for not reading more reviews before I purchased. I got caught up in the fact that Microsoft was using Touchsmarts to test Windows 7 and did not think HP and Microsoft would screw thier customers.
Or not returning before 14 days. I really thought they would take it unopened. After all I got 2 computers at the time. The Touchsmart and my 13" MacBook Pro which i am on now. I was spending my time setting it up ... so the other one was just sitting in the box until I was ready to deal with. I am sure Apple is just sitting back watching ......
If they come up with a touch screen computer it's over. Now after owning my first MAC ... I see why people LOVE them. they just work ... no BS. I am running Snow Leopard, XP ad Windows 7 on the same machine. the screen is GREAT and speed AWESOME. The new iMac is unbeleivable ... just no touch screen.
Or better RULE is buy big items during Christmas ..... Retailer always do returns during that time of the year.
So you know anyone that wants a "NEW" ..... OLD Touchsmart???? Errrrrg ....
OK so when will all you delveloper types start creating application we can get????
I think there is a market. Older touch owners want to play too!!!!

I just don't see how this is "getting screwed" it's not like Windows 7 came out of nowhere, and HP has been very good about making not only Win7 upgrades, but driver and app changes available, just look at all the Touchsmart 3.0 stuff available to the IQ5xx and IQ8xx community.
I've run the Win7 RC and the Touchpack.. it's really not a huge deal, other then being "new and shiny" but operationally I'd rather have the new TS applications.
Trying to paint HP as the bad guys that screwed you is the wrong approach, HP has been very supportive of it's early adopters in almost all cases.

Oh I have to disagree. They are selling a product. Would you pay a premium price for a touch computer that the vendor didn't support? No... That is why HP is doing what they are doing, we simply think they could do better.
I am sure they want to sell more touch screen computers and with the hefty price they are asking, they will need word of mouth from those of us that have them and enjoy encourage others to buy them.
Why would I want another product from a company that when and if I can't trust them to do the right and fair thing?
I plan to buy another computer in the next 4 months and you better believe I am going to go to boards like this and see how the customer is treated after the sale.
If I knew then what I know now I would not be typing on a IQ846 right now, that is for sure.
Smile, God is watching you.

Dont forget this too; the touch pack has not been released to the public yet, so even the OEMs don't have it.
As far as supporting their product, HP support has been great AND, they have been rolling out weekly updates for the touchsmarts and Win7 so they ARE keeping them in line with the new models.
So, if you buy a 445 HP 2010 Camaro and Chevy ups it to 475 next year, are you going to gripe that Chevy wont give you a new Camaro? Didn't think so. Its called progress. Most computers are already outdated after the first month of use. The Touchsmarts have kept up the pace pretty good compared to others.
Oh, and I DID win the lottery....I won my Touchsmart. :-)

Paul,
Dave and I are on the same page, how is HP not supporting you?
They've given you Touchsmart 3.0 for free and it updates every aspect of TS 2.0, they've had drivers for Win 7 the day the OS was out.
Users that bought after June are given a free Win 7 upgrade that includes OS, drivers, and applications, even though the OS didn't come out until October.
What are you expecting HP to do that they haven't?
Diane
I just want my dag'nabit TouchPack. I don't want to get all into what HP has done or how good their system is or is not. I just want my dag'nabit touchpack.
Now if you truly want to hear me gripe about my touchsmar, I will... But I think it should be done in its own thread.
Smile, God is watching you.

Please realize that it's not HP that determines who gets the TouchPack, but Microsoft. It's their software, and they only license it for new computers that ship with Windows 7 and touch capability. If you want to complain about that, complain to Microsoft, please.
Well dag'nabbit, if you want it so bad then WAIT for it. It'll either be free or you'll have to pay for it. :-) :-)
In the mean time, Here, Enjoy this: http://www.microsoft.com/surface/touch-pack/en-US/touch-pack.aspx
You may also be misunderstanding something. The Touch Pack iis not really aimed at touchscreens like the touchsmart, according to MS's website, it is aimed more at the Microsoft "Surface" products.

@Diane. In my case ..... knowing a new system would be OUT in 30 days... WHY NOT ... pull the "OLD" Touchsmarts from the marketplace. In fact they are still trying to sell the old models for almost the same price on the HP web site. Explain that!!!!
This way I WOULD NOT have purchased for FULL price a PC that would not have all the applications... I am sure HP knew that would be releasing in OCTOBER. NOT only do I want Touch Pack ... But a COMPLETE ... version 3.0 TOUCHSMART upgrade ... not one with just some of the appications included. Yes they did not include all the applications ...
So I got some of the "NEW" touchsmart applications and Windows 7 if you know anyone that wants it since it's should a great DEAL.
I guess I don't mind losing $200 to $300 dollars to the techie food chain including BEST BUY, MICROSOFT and HP -- when I try sell my OLD new system!!!
I'm running the Touch Pack on the retail version of 7, and its fun for about 10 mins or so. Collage, Lagoon, and Globe are notable, but unless you are showing off your machine, you will probably never use it. Currently I am using Lagoon as my screen saver, but I will be returning to Flip Clock again.
If you search the internets you can definitely find a way to download it to your machine. Good luck
Looks like Microsoft is now considering making the Touch Pack available for download. They've updated the touch pack page: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/whats-the-microsoft-touch-pack-fo...
Here's the critical quote/change:
"The Touch Pack comes preinstalled on some multitouch PCs running Windows 7, and will soon be available for download. It's not included in Windows 7."
Thanks for the info GTG, I'm sure that will make a lot of people happy.
