I've been checking n-trig's drivers site almost everyday in hopes of a new release from them.

Either today or last Thursday or Friday, this page http://www.n-trig.com/Content.aspx?Page=Multi_Touch was updated to link to the link below (instead of the old link to the registration/login form for RC drivers.)

ftp://62.90.214.37/DuoSense_MTM_RTM_Win7_64bit_TouchSmartTX2_2.184.zip

The version number (2.184) is the same as the RTM drivers posted by HP on its support site.  I have not downloaded or tested these drivers yet.  They could be exactly the same bits as HP's, or could be a different implementation/revision.

Here's hoping for more than two touches!

I have been tested N-Trig DuoSense 2.184 drivers in my HP TouchSmart TX2Z 1000 CTO, and system say that have 2 points in surface......and I ever think that is MULTITOUCH.....then, I hope for drivers really multitouch.
You can see my blog, in Spanish of course, in http://cid-aea8ceb5d1f3c000.spaces.live.com/
Thanks.

Me too. Installed the drivers and either touch would stop working or pen would stop working and sometimes I'd get a dead spot with the pen in the middle of the screen. Makes me wonder if new tx2zs even work right out of the box with Windows 7 Pre-Installed.

two points = useless = do not install

If you upgrade HP Vista image, Windows 7 installs its own (Microsoft) multi-touch driver that supports 10 points + full pen functionality. But you will have two unknown devices in Device Manager. The RC 2.59 (4 points) from n-trig fixes this issue (if it bothers you) and is also good. Win7 Touchpack works great on the tx2 with 4+ points (but not with two points). It doesn't need PhysX or NVIDIA (but will benefit from them on machines with this hardware), and works fine under the ATI HD 3200 in our tx2 (all touchpack apps work flawlessly).
According to n-trig's own definition 2 points is not true multi-touch: http://www.n-trig.com/Data/Uploads/Misc/N-trig_Paper_on_Multi-Touch_2008.pdf
At least 4 points are needed (and multi-hand), to be able to claim proper multi-touch support.

When did touchpak come out? I thought it wasn't released yet.

It has been released to OEMs six months ago--Touchpack demos on the TX2:

Will NOT work if you use the latest n-trig driver on HP site v2.184 as it needs 4+ points!

4+ pts

Hi, where is in internet the touchpack for HP TX2Z?. Where is this link?.
Thanks.

Yes, the links from the HP site and N-Trig's site are exactly the same. I have reinstalled the package from the N-Trig's site, but System Properties tells the same old thing "Pen and Touch Input Available with 2 Touch Points." Before I checked over the internet about this I thought that there is a problem with my laptop but it seems I am not the only one with this issue...

This has been discussed at length on these forums.  Do a quick search and you will find all the info on it.  Long story short, its not legally released for end user installation, you have to get it through "other" means to aquire it.

And what about 10+ (Unlimited) touch points, is there a driver for this thing?

November 5, 2009 1:30 PM

Take a look at this thread: http://www.touchsmartdevzone.com/forum/thread/2007/tx2z-n-trig-digitizer-USB-trace/

I traced the output from the 2.59 firmware and it looks like only the first contacts are consistent. Above that, the data is junky. Better firmware could improve this. There is no firmware or driver that provides 10 contact points yet.

Hello dumavi. I experienced exactly the same problem. I managed to get it right after unistalling everything from N-Trig in in Uninstall Program in Control Panel. Adter you uninstall everything you can make a clean install of this one.

Good luck!

Thank you very much for advise, vankob4, at night I will do uninstall all and clean install from zero. Tomorrow I will tell you about this.

Hello,
I have the HP Touchsmart tx2, I had it working fine with 4-Point touch before, but not long ago I installed the Microsoft Touch Pack for Windows 7 that enables 10 touch points! Only one problem, after I had that installed only one finger is working now! Not even gestures are working! Anyone know the fix to this?
