I thought I would ask this up here since while not a developer, I work with them a lot.
I've noticed as I go through the various HP hardware in the house there's a great deal of overlap, and I've just started getting a chance to play with a new laptop with the MediaSmart software on it. What was very interesting is that the Music/Video/Pictures application is the TouchSmart application.
I'd seen the resemblance before but never put two and two together.
I thought this would be a great place to ask what the familial relationships are with the 2 suites, and how they're linked behind the scenes in the HP family.

Good observation! Indeed, Music/Photo/Video is very similar across TouchSmart and MediaSmart - they are the same applications. The only differences between the two is having the controls for moving, closing, and minimizing the window for MediaSmart (since TouchSmart handles all that itself).
There's also a similar look and feel, as some of the styles and art is leveraged between the two.
