First of all, hi everyone, and congratulation for this great website.

To introduce myself, I would say I'm an electronics engineer working for a successful test software company in Montreal, Canada. Computers have been part of my life for 20 years now, starting with DOS on an Amstrad 1512 with 5'25 drives.

Let's be modern now. I purchased an IQ506 Touchsmart in march 2009 and have been reading a lot in these forums. Everyone seems to be very happy with their machines, and have some trouble at the same time. Just like me !

Using Vista, I found everything was labouring too much : slow Windows, overworking hard disk, TouchSmart interface not reactive, but everything was functional.

I recently made the change to 7 x64 hoping everything would be better. Indeed 7 IS a great OS : it's fast, reactive, multi-touch (at least 2), touchsmart interface is waaaayyyyyy better and faster.

BUT, I'm encountering very annoying problems yo which I haven't found solutions yet.

- the screen is blinking every couple of seconds, my drivers are up to date, I suspect a firmware issue since it also happens when running a live CD of Linux.

- no OSD even after installing the latest HP drivers.

- the remote used to work but now does nothing any more : LEDs are flashing on the remote and the computer, but no more sound control or DVD navigation. This is really a shame since I love having remotes on my computers (thx HP). It worked great for a couple of weeks and then disappeared, even after changing the batteries.

I hope we can find solutions to these problems, thank you to share your ideas, I'll let you know if I find anything. Now I'm gonna post about Linux since I've been testing various distros for quite some months now.
