Alright here is an interesting question:

I have a tx2z-1300 running max specs and I love it.... but heres the question.

I know there's a lot of benefit of installing a retail 7 vs OEM 7, because of all the little BS hp adds. So I have obtained a copy of A win 7 CD, and was wondering, would the positives out way the negatives by backing up the swsetup folder, and then fresh installing? Then just adding the drivers / software that's needed?

Do the wonderful members of the TSC think this is a go or a no?

- side bar, I have recovery cds make just in case

Edit for spelling.

There is no difference between and OEM, Retail, or upgrade of Win7, the files installed are exactly the same, there's no "little BS HP adds" The only difference is in an upgrade scenario if you upgrade a supported OS, it will carry your installed apps over if you so choose, even the upgrade media can do a clean install on a system.

Diane:

Traditionally OEM partners add BS(bloatware software or bloat ware) into systems and processes that slow down impair system performance. For example, I had a dv6000 running 1gb ram slowly under vista, I reinstalled vista with the oem key, installed the drivers and there was a quite a bit of performance improvement (from 70+ processes to around 30). doing this removed processes that impair and lag system performance.

Ex:
gcalservice.exe
hpqWmiEx.exe
hpswp_clipbook.exe
HPtouchsmartsynccalreminderapp.exe

I mean really? Do i need a reminder app running if i uninstalled the calendar? This is what I mean by bs. I reinstall clears all the HP bloatware and lets me choose what I wish to install (via swsetup folders).

Also, I like this quote on the matter:

You won't see any improvement with another fresh install, no. The OEM disk for all intents and purposes is exactly the same.

Also, pretty ironic that is censors that, makes your statements look more profane.

LOL, nice example Ragged. Anyways, what you should do is the clean install using that disk instead of the upgrade option. That way you will get the fresh install that you want without any hp crap.

All the extra stuff that you have running is a carry over from the upgrade you did.

I didnt do the upgrade process, I got mine with 7Pro (tx2z-1300). I was thinking that a clean reinstall would help with everything, also, did the file work? I finally got it finished.

Oh, forgot that you had the 1300 with it preloaded. Yah, just do a clean install =).

I have not had a chance to dig through all of it yet, plus my tx2 is in for repairs.
