Sorry if this has been covered already but ive searched google for weeks and cant get anywhere!

I bought a refurbished tx2 1250ea, when it first booted up it configured windows vista etc... and the touch screen was working, although i didnt think of testing multi touch.

Anyway installed windows 7 RC straight away and all was great, but no multi touch, when trying to install the driver from both the HP site and the ntrig site I get an error saying no ntrig hardware has been dectected.

Today a purchased and installed win 7 professional 64bit and still the multi touch doesnt work and i get the same hardware error.

can anyone help????

Thanks.

Do you still have Windows Vista on a recovery partition of your harddrive? Tried to do a system recovery with this?

Ye I still have the recovery partition, havent tried that, I dont want to go on vista.

Even if you don't want to go on Vista, it may be useful to do a factory restore to see if the digitizer works with Vista. If it does you can go forth and reinstall Windows 7, if it does not you eventually messed up your digitizer. I'd suggest you read through this thread first: http://www.touchsmartdevzone.com/forum/thread/1263/N-Trig-TX2-Hardware-not-de...

Also you eventually want to read through the N-Trig Release Notes which can be found on the N-Trig homepage regarding the released driver 2.184 for Windows 7 64bit. There's a passage in it that states how you might destroy your digitizer if you don't perform a "special" install procedure. If all doesn't help and you don't get your digitizer to work you should contact HP to have your TX2 sent in for repair.

I just read somewhere that different tx2 variations use different hardware, some of which dont support multi touch... i think my hardware is wacom.... could this be why?

December 20, 2009 4:27 PM

No, it's a common and reasonable mistake to think this though.

There are different TX variations that do not support multi touch. You can think of it as there was the original TX that had a Wacom screen, which is separated into the TX1000, TX2000, and TX2500 (among other numbers). The TX2 is the "next" in the TX series. If you have a TX2, you have the same touch hardware as us, unless there is something I am horridly missing, which is entirely possible.

product code on the bottom reads : HP Pavilion TX2500.

although there is a wacom sticker on the body of the laptop...

this is exactly what I bought

Problem solved, you're running a skew of the original TX, not the TX2.

You are correct prototype, not missing anything.  The tx2 line (1000 and 1300 series) are the exact same hardware.  The older 2500 series was the only differeing one using the Wacom digitizer and different hardware, nvidia chipset and such.

damn, oh well, cheers guys.

If you purchased a "TX2" refurbished unit from a legitimate seller (I DO NOT consider ebay as legitimate) and they advertised ot as a TX2, then you have a solid claim for a refund/exchange.

That is the same model/series I have and IS NOT capable of multitouch.

HP really made a mistake in the naming convention of the two series of laptops.  They should have made a clearer distinction between the TX2 and TX2000 series.

Sorry for the bad news.

That does indeed suck, sorry that you have to deal with that.
