I use Onenote a lot and hav not had this problem. But when I'm taking notes I switch the control panel to only recognized pen not both touch and pen.

its not a finger touch problem.

when I write, sometimes the letters are stringed.
when I lift the pen it still writes.

no doubdt a different problem

I think another user experienced issues like this and found it to be a pen issue.. I dont recall exactly though, would have to dig up that posting. Its within the past 3-6 weeks though I believe that I saw it.

I think they also started using inkseine and it lessened the problems.

Ive looked for that thread and found nothing.

can anyone help me with this problem?

Its really annoying! just tell me if its a driver thing or whatever...

I would really appreciate help because it really slows me down during classes

Did you attempt to use Inksine as I suggested?

In addition, which driver revision for the digitizer is currently in use, operating system, etc.

I dont want to use a different program than one note,
for various reasons.

Im on windows 7, and I dont know how to check my version of the digitizer... how do I do that?

In the control panel, navigate to "N-Trig Pen and Touch Settings" (It is under Hardware And Sound Category).

From there, click on the About tab on the top, and list here what you Driver/Firmware/Software Bundle Version are.

The 2.59 drivers while providing more touchpoints and generally working better for most users unfortunately has a side effect for some people with the stylus it would seem. The 2.184 Package helps with this some, as well as the inkseine program which seems to handle it more intelligently.

very sadly, my bundle software version is 2.59

I asked hp support, they sent me to microsoft - mother&*#$%s

I found older threads related to this problem - with no solution!!!

it starts to sound really bad

Well, update to the latest bios F25 first off. Then grab the latest N-trig drivers from the HP website and install those. Once all that is complete, go ahead and test onenote again and see how the stylus fares.

I think what Michael4508 describes is more or less the same as in this thread:

 http://www.touchsmartdevzone.com/forum/thread/1845/Help-Lessen-Touch-Pen-Sens...

I also experienced the pen still writing while not touching the screen or that it clicks buttons while you hold it over one without touching the screen. I have tested for a few minutes if it still happens with the new bios (F.25) in OneNote, PDF Annotator and MS Paint. I'm using n-trig driver 2.59 and Win 7 Professional 32bit. By now it did not happen again. Future will tell if this behavior still exists. What I did in the past when this occured is that I lifted the pen and spinned the tip. That helped at least for a moment. The pen is pressure sensitive and you can imagine this behavior as if you were writing with the lowest pressure that is recognize, so it draws pretty thin lines sometimes.

Good to hear that the new Bios might have resolved the problem then. Would have expected the firmware upgrade to the digitizer to have more effect however, but oh well.

Lets wait and see if the OP followed my advice or not and how it works out for him.

well I tried the bios update... and my Ntrig was 2.59

but It just lessened the effect (I think it was a placebo)

Now Im back at square one

Well, you could try the 2.184 driver package as I suggested and see how that works. It has helped other users with that issue, but yes, limits the touchpoints to only two. Pick your poison I suppose.
