Im interested to know if the any of the forum members tried to use the new office 2010?

Im interested to know if the beta is stable, and is there any point in upgrading from 2007?

most important, are there interesting new features in OneNote?

I've been using it for a few months now and I can say that it is indeed pretty stable. Outlook has been the least stable of the apps so far, but it's also the one I use the most and have tweaked quite a bit, so it could just be me.

OneNote isn't majorly different, except that it, like the rest of the apps, now uses the Ribbon interface. They've tweaked the search feature, too, and it is better than the old one.

I tried it, but also had stability problem with Outlook - and it borked my pst file, also kind'a thought it'd be much more touch screen centric, like able to write straight onto the word screen, but no, still brings up a separate window, same as excel.

Went back to 2k7, mostly cause of Outlook.

2010 has been okay, although I dont touch outlook. Not a hell of alot different from 07 other than some UI touchups that I have noticed.

I'm not sure what you mean by this.  You open a new message and click on "Start Inking" (I think that's what it says) on the Ink Tools ribbon and you aren't able to start inking right in the message?

The writing on screen to text conversion ability that windows has, I just thought it would be more tightly integrated into word, but it feels like Office2007 SP3 - tho' I'm sure there's plenty new stuff under the hood. Also, Outlook07 has journal which pretty much allows you to ink notes and stuff directly to the page if you enable it.

@ the open office comment, I do use that in my Ubuntu partition, unfortunately (since the TX2), I love writing freehand on the screen and it turning automatically to text.

They moved a lot of stuff around with OneNote which I end up using quite a bit with my tx2. Took a little while to figure out where it went but there are some neat features in it.

Yeah, I just installed it on my brand new TouchSmart tx2z yesterday. I had used it for a week or so before I got the tablet, and I do say that OneNote has really improved, and I can't wait to see how it helps when taking class notes. Everything is a much nicer interface, but I have had some isolated problems with Word.
