How does the installation process work? Is it only possible by using the disc to boot off the internal dvd drive or will the installation still work if the disc is mounted from an external usb dvd drive?
The reason I ask is because I bungled the internal drive on my TouchSmart a while ago. It's not going to mount anything from there until I get it replaced. So is the update installation a no-go until that obstacle has been resolved, or can it all be done from an external usb drive (which I have been using since my little debacle)?
So long as the computer supports booting from USB drives, which I am pretty sure all the touchsmart series do, you are fine and it will work perfectly.

That's what worried me, that it does require an operable optical drive at boot time.
Is it really true the TS can boot from usb? I thought that was an unusual feature. Do I have to enable that in the bios, before that will work?
