Thanks alot
I do know about the f11 thing , i tried it before yesterday it didn't work! =( i keep pressing f11 the whole time and nothing happens , it just loads normally? =( ??
Review the updates available for you at hp.com there's one SPECIFICALLY to address the upgrade to Win7 breaks the recovery partition issue.
And if there's no way to do that, then a quick purchase of the proper recovery media from HP will resolve this.
You should have been prompted (or nagged, depends on your view) to make recovery media when you bought the machine, if you have those you can use them here also.
Diane
well i should have made a recovery media =[ , too bad i didn't !
umm , i'v been searching the site hp.com for updates and could not find any?
can you link me the direct link for the specific update ? thanks alot Diane.
It would be a lot easier if you had somewhere mentioned what model you have, otherwise we're going to just guess. "HP Recovery Manager Application Update" the version for the IQ506t is sp44455.exe
Diane
No, probably not. When you installed Windows 7 you may have destroyed the recovery partition on the system's hard drive. You'll never get it back unless you use a set of recovery disks. If you didn't make them yourself, you'll have to contact HP Support and order a set.
The F11 button only works if the recovery partition is present and placed on the drive according to how the BIOS expects is to be placed.
FWIW the Recovery Media is under $30 with shipping included from HP if you're in the US, similar in CA, well worth it.
okaay , i think ill get the recovery media. ill do that , can you post the link here for the iq 500 recovery media please? thanks alot for helping me , appreciate it.
You can find the right references from the HP support pages for your specific model, it's really not that hard to track down. You may want to check further on your model number, the IQ500 isn't listed as a valid US model.

Princeque, thanks dude.
I remember having sort of the same problem...
I installed a win 7 ultimate.... but was 32 bits, and was not able to install all the HP software...
Then when I tried to restore system, it was the same problem you reported...
I dont really remember how I fixed it... but i can give you some clues to what i did.
the restore cd will not help at all, as I tried this solution before.... and it didnt... HP said they had to pick up the pc and take it to the factory.
search in google for something that helps you restore the boot sector of the hd... I remember doing something like that.... It has some hard steps... but it's possible. It took me like an hour of googling plus doing it.
then, voila... just press f11 and restore all.I ll try to remember the details and post them for you.
lol... i didnt check this was an old thread.....
I hope you have already fixed it.
