Just to put it into perspective, the ACPI, KBD, Buttons application they list for the IQ506t has the same issue, I know it's installed, the CAPS lock etc functions are fine, but the volume and mute don't work.
I know it's not a huge help, but it looks like they have a blind spot on that, just like having the wrong driver listed for the IQ506t on the TV Tuner for Win7

Hello all.
I got Windows 7 Installed on my IQ815 PC. Here is the whole story.
When I got home a few weeks ago I turned on my PC and noticed that my partition went bad. Fair enough I thought and went to grab the DVDs that I created. At the same time I grabbed the Win7 update DVD that HP gave to me as well. The idea was to recover to Vista and then upgrade to Win7.
Perfect plan....or so I THOUGHT.
The PC refused to read the DVDs. They were is perfect shape but no go. Called HP Support....gave them the error code and was expecting a free recovery DVD order. They said no....that it was the hard drive. Now before I called HP I ran a diag on the HDD using Seagates Tools and it said that the HDD was perfectly fine. That was not good enough for HP apparently. Upset I hung up on them after a hours worth of useless arguing and decided to do a full install with the Win 7 Upgrade DVD. All went well....EXCEPT for the apps that I wanted.
Now I found the thread with the Colored Lighting and got that working...but the files on the HP Driver and Support page will not work. I need to get the buttons on the side working. ( Volume and Mute )
Can anyone help me out with this? It would be much appreciated.

i didnt even know there were buttons on the side. i have always used the keyboard volume controls.
FYI mine dont work either.
I really think they have cross referenced some incorrect driver packages with their updated Win7 software for machines that are upgraded.
Diane
Great.....so we have to find out the exact driver packages that they messed up.
Oy!

I think for some things, yes :(
I know the ACPI buttons/keyboard pack for the IQ506t has the same issue, and I'm wondering if it works for anyone with last gen systems.
I'm hoping to move to an IQ846 with the official HP Win7 upgrade, I'll see if it has the same issues (that's a week or so off)
Diane
Let us know then Diane. Thanks.

Update:
IQ846 with official Win7 HP upgrade and their upgrade disc worked fine.
OSD and buttons all work.
I'll try to dig and see if I can find the package ID for the software that was installed behind the scenes and actually worked as opposed to the software they have on the Web for Win7 upgraded PCs that hasn't worked for any of us.

Just wanted to say,
did you install the firmware update for the dvd drive???
i had the same problem,
where the recovery dvd i made wouldnt read,
after updating the firmware on the drive,
recovery using the dvd was a breeze
oh,
and i did do the same thing first fresh install,
couldnt get the osd to work,
so had to unistall the package,
then extract the driver package and manually install
