Hi There,

I have an IQ507.  In TouchSmart mode, I see the weather application among the "small tiles".  However, if I select it, nothing happens.  And there is no weather icon (conditions/temp).  I believe that weather has never operated since getting the computer a few days ago.

I see the weather application files and if I click on them, I get a "busy icon" for maybe a second, but nothing starts up.

I've uploaded the latest TouchSmart updates from HP as of today.

I'm in the US.

Any ideas?

Dave

Well, after some tinkering, I was able to get the weather application working. I had downloaded weatherbug separately and was running it outside of touchsmart.

It seems that this caused the problem as once I uninstalled it, the touchsmart version started working.

Ideally, there would be a way to utilize weatherbug in both environments.

I haven't tried weatherbug, but I can run the Vista weather Widget and the TouchSmart Weather app simultaneously. I wonder if weatherbug and the touchsmart app pull data from the same source, which could explain why both won't work at the same time.

I've come to the same conclusion. If you open the TouchSmart Weather app, it even says to visit weatherbug.com for more details in the app window. So, my guess is that the TouchSmart version was the second instance to be opened and weatherbug doesn't support that.

There is a technical explanation for this behavior, but it's probably irrelevant to anyone but software developers. There is a potential workaround too, but again, it's probably not interesting to anyone but software developer types.
